While I used to love them growing up, I find the coverage so boring nowadays. It seems like the presenters, the people being interviewed about their games, etc., have zero personality, charisma, and excitement. E3 used to be so hype back in the day, from the way the show was presented, to the coverage from Gamespot, 1UP, G4, etc., to the nerdy developers who seemed so excited about what they were making.

Here's an example of what we lost:

I never watch them. I just browse through the announcements the next day or two later. It seems like it might be cool to attend one once, but I probably wouldn't notice if they went away completely.

2005 - 2010 was the best years of hype.
I would convince my parents to let me skip school so I could watch the press briefings in G4.

Nowadays they're all boring Nintendo Direct copycats.

Idk, right now as we speak Gamescom is streaming more in-depth looks on games with devs and stuff, and most devs seem very excited about being there and sharing something they really care about. On the other hand a lot of people in chat hate these interviews (and games too, lol) so I guess its a matter of preference. Opening day was cool and Future Gaming Show with David Hayter and Maggie Robertson was cringe in a charming way as those shows usually are. Sure I don't get hyped about anything these days but the shows are pretty good, mostly.

I watched some of IGN's coverage with interviews, the Xbox stuff from yesterday, and the whole thing was so dull and lacking in genuine excitement.

i watched some gamescom and i was not impressed, its strange to see so much money being burnt on junk no one will remember

The internet eliminated the need for these shows. I went to a couple of E3s and back then you were still waiting for write-ups and postage stamp-sized videos to see stuff until the magazines hit, so in that sense it was a happening. Nowadays not so much. But there's also the aspect of everyone is older now, so you're desensitized a bit, where a younger person might be all hyped about it because it's new to them.
