Bought this game on PC last summer-ish? I heard the hype after how so many players were playing they were having server errors. I waited a couple months and bought it, thinking, how good could it possibly be for $40 bucks? At the beginning, no unlocks, limited stratagems, dying a lot...you know. Took me about 30 hours of casual play to unlock all the guns and stratagems. There's a ton of good shit to play for now, but in the early days it was only a couple warbonds. I got injured irl in July and ended up playing so much I maxed out my ship, and I was playing around the time the tier 5 ship update dropped...so tons of samples to dive for.

This is one of my top PC games. I ended up double dipping on PS5 just cause I thought I'd have fun unlocking everything all over again since we didn't get cross progression.

This ended up turning into one my my comfort games. You know you got your game that you go back to over the years...This game actually took over. I get the hype. It's just too damn cool.

I have around 80ish hours on it and I just got my PS5 this Christmas.

Oh man, this game. I've already had quite the history with this game. I bought this on release, right before going on vacation, and had to watch the first Sony fiasco happen from afar. I already did like the game tho, and kept playing it a bit after, when the second Sony fiasco happened and by that time I couldn't refund it. Eventually they backed down with the account requirement, and we continued playing. Then we kept on playing and the devs kept on doing boneheaded balance decisions and I stopped playing for a while. Waited for them to unfuck the balance, and eventually they did! They figured out how to meet the playerbase halfway with balance and actually make things effective and fun without being overpowered. Played a lot more after that, eventually got tired and played some other games. Then the Illuminates returned, and back in we go. Played a ton more, saw the Killzone collab situation happen in real time too. Didn't feel too bad about it, I still didn't spend money on those cosmetics, and their decision to just give the community half of them for free was quite something. Eventually got tired of the game again, but this time amicably. Now, in total I think I have around 300 hours, the longest played of any of my friends who also no-lifed the game on release. I went back to Monster Hunter, and now I'm busy with Warframe, so I don't think I'll have time or space for HD2 in the near future, but I'm willing to get back in there if something exciting is going to happen, the game is a gem.

Just FUCK Sony in particular. They have not and most likely will never remove the region lock they imposed on this game (and then they went on to stick online PSN requirements on all their other games, even the singleplayer ones)
