Hell hard games thread

I'm currently trapped in Ys I Chronicles+. The boss fights are maybe some of the worst ever??? I'm even stuck on the one before the final boss and everyone already talks about how the final boss is like at least top ten worst final boss fights ever.

The Turbografx-CD version was NOT this rough.

It's maybe not the hardest game ever, but it sure spikes so extremely in difficulty for the stupidest things possible that it's maddening that this is supposed to be the updated final version released like thirty entire years later and it's also maybe the worst one???

Oh right, I always forgot that Metal Slug series is supposed to be hard as sin for casuals as well, way more than even Contra, Megaman and Ghost n' Goblins could do. It's really more platformer that plays like a shmup. The only reason you can eventually git gud at this game is only because of its unlimited continues that instantly bring you at the spot when you died before.

Also if you want to play a modern game that's frustratingly head-bashing desk hard because you feel like never knowing anything even after playing it a couple of times, there's always Knights in the Nightmare.

I know someone played dark DECEPTION and he got crashes a lot. Well if game had better saving it wasn't very bad but they game save when you finish every level so if you crash in end........it's time to open dictionary and find a good complicated insult!

I remember one of the Maximo games on ps2 being pretty tough. Don't remember which one though. Fun games, everyone ought to play em

The King of Fighters 94 (Neo Geo)
Athena (Arcade & NES)
SRW F & F Final (PSX)
Ninja Ryukenden Tomoe/Ninja Gaiden Trilogy (SNES)
Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage Trilogy (Mega Drive)
Contra series (various)
Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 (SNES)

They're hard as sin they make other games look pretty easy by comparison.
Fun tip to make ur time with streets of rage 2 and 3 easier!!! if u play specifically as Axel and specifically space your punches between half a second each instead of rapidly pressing attack, the enemies will never get knocked back and get stuck in a helpless never-ending damage cycle until they die! It unfortunately doesn't work on bosses (aside from Jet's reanimated corpse in the third game weirdly enough), but otherwise it's a surefire way to make your time with these games a lot easier!

any 90s shmup that i've tried is this for me. with touhou i can at least get to the last or second to last boss on normal with continues, but when playing other shmups i find it so hard to concentrate on my ship most of the time through all the effects flying all over the place that i basically can't go like 20 seconds without getting hit.

also there's mega man x6

The first one that comes to mind for me is I Wanna Be The Guy. I remember obsessing over it for a while until I beat it years ago.

Aw shit, the classic. Love this game. The Mike Tyson fight had 7 year old me laughing my ass off until I wasn't.

This totally reminds me, people were saying Silver Surfer on NES was hard, but all I can say, is that it suffers from the general no autofire thing and having extremely awkward hitbox like other old 80s shmups. Won't be surprised this was the reason turbo button is a thing
The game just feels not great lol. I like shmups a lot, Silver Surfer is just weird to control for me. I don't think it would be as hard if not for that.

To be honest, Sans is still a much more fair battle in comparison to just hard games even
FAIR???? Not so sure in the common sense, but maybe in the balance. YES, I beat it, but i do know several people who are better gamers than me that still haven't. Course compared to the other game I mentioned, which that battle is RNG heavy. Drawing a dead hand can destroy you quickly. When you reach him, you will filled your deck with also some of the worst cards that you do NOT want at all. Self Damage and Bug cards really are not something you shouldn't have to deal with in a situation like that, especially when your cards are your hp.

Maybe for those who didn't experience boss battle that requires certain level of memorising the patterns I guess. I remember Hollow Knight or Souls also being treated as hard (sometimes unfair) but they're all part of memorising, too
