So on my Switch if I have a game installed on the SD Card, after leaving it unplayed for a while if I try to launch the game it takes an insane amount of time to load.

If I archive and reinstall the game it gets a bunch quicker, which is great, but I've been wondering what the fuck I'll do when Nintendo inevitably kills the servers to redownload my games?

Is there any workaround to fix this problem without a reinstall? I don't have a hackable switch (AFAIK) so even if there's a homebrew fix I doubt I'd be able to use it.

Huh, first time I heard such case, is it a digital game? Do you have auto update setting on?

Yeah it only effects digital games. I was keeping most of my library installed on a big card, but I have to reinstall most of the games or I get literal 2 minute+ loading screens for every loading transition

They haven't even done this for wii purchases yet. The switch version of this may outlive us all
I actually didn't know this, even though I have my Wii hooked up to my TV...

That's kind of nuts, tbh.

Such is the double edged sword of digital streaming content. It's infinitely more convenient than fumbling with discs or cartridges that can rot or get damaged. But once those servers go down, it's gone forevermore.

I actually had this problem last Christmas, where I wanted to purchase Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania because it had Suezo in it as a DLC character. However, SEGA did not maintain the Monster Rancher licence, so he got taken off of the store and now you can't get him anymore.

Furious, I resorted to the dark magics and got an emulator going, since it's not like pirates give a shit about licensing issues, so now I can play as Suezo all year round. Same thing also happened when CyberConnect2 got the JOJO license (Heritage for the Future HD gets taken down 360/PS3 store fronts) or when Activision lost the Transformers IP (No more Highmoon shooters or Devestation).

Hoarding everything on a massive storage device is the most honest way to got about this, but you've got to know ahead of time something you want is going to go down or you may miss it.

And if all else fail...well....

4 Options
1. Keep doing what you are since it is working for you.
2. Buy an SSD, move copies to it, and just yoink them when you need them.
3. ???
4.
Im a risk taker ill do option 3!

Two ways.

1. Cloud Saving (Which is part of the servers, than yeah. That would backfire)
2. Get a giant Terabyte card. It's expensive, but at least you will have extra space on games depending the file sizes of those digital games.

by the time Nintendo shuts down the servers an exploit will be found for your particular Switch, so I wouldn't stress about. People used to say the 360 was unhackable but look at it now.

I belive that's why Mortal Kombat 9 went off every storefront as well. I think it was the Freddy Krueger license

Ah, so that means MKX, 11, & 1, all have a shelf life as well now, meaning everyone should scuttling to archive as much of those games as you can before Sylvester Stallone decides he doesn't want to be in it anymore.

Compared to the Wii, the 360 might as well be unhackable. Fuck the hypervisor, all my homies hate the hypervisor, and I'd rather not take a soddering iron to a machine that's so dutifully avoided the RRoD since 2008 (oldest Xbox known to man, still doesn't have Uno).

I know about the USB hack, but man if that's still not a clean answer, since I either needed to have downloaded that one version of Rockband off the LiveStore before it had shut down (last Fall, I think?) or get myself a copy of Tony Hawk: American Skateland (which, since the secret's out, is now expensive as all hell, let me tell you).

I also heard that BadUpdate has to be reapplied every boot up, which, I suppose would liken it to the Wii U in sense. If the Wii U required a very specific version of "Just Dance 2015" in order to operate Mocha/Tiramisu.
