Have you tried Tales of Rebirth (PS2) with the English patch?

And if so, how did you like it?
I've played it wayyyy back in the day, when this game came out fresh in Japan, and played it all the way in Japanese with and English / Japanese playerguide.
These were truly some wild times, especially there were some riddles where you had to enter passwords to progress further into the story and everything was of course in an Japanese alphabet. I'm still suprised by my younger self I had this dedication to even complete this game, lol.

I played it when the patch came out earlier this year. While I enjoyed the combat, it suffers from your typical Tales of issues.

The combat itself is great, has the tools & depth to conquer fights even on hard difficulty which is great! Better than Legendia, but below Abyss & Director's cut.
The story here is actually great & interesting, but where the game fumbles is the typical Tales of padding. Sooo much backtracking. It wasn't uncommon for me just wandering around the overworld for half-an-hour sessions, just talking to people just to get the story moving along. That is not fun & very disrespectful of the players time.

Not to mention the last 4-5 dungeons are just reskins which kinda kill it.

I'm complaining a lot but I still beat it! So that must mean something! Still hard to recommend though.
