One of the most memorable evenings of our retro gaming meetups started with unboxing a package from Japan. Inside were specialized joysticks from Taito for the PlayStation 1: one for controlling airplanes and the other for trains. We immediately recorded the game images of Densha de Go and Jet de Go to test these accessories.
Honestly, it was incredibly fun and engaging! Even though the games were entirely in Japanese, we managed to figure out the controls and fully enjoy the experience. It’s hard to say how these games feel with regular PS1 controllers, but with the specialized joysticks, the experience was on a whole new level. We spent a lot of time playing, marveling at some of the game mechanics.
Everyone agreed: “If I had something like this in my childhood, it could have sparked an interest in becoming a pilot or a train driver.” These games are a true gem for simulation enthusiasts, especially considering the limitations of the PlayStation 1. They can captivate you for hours and deliver unforgettable emotions!
