[*]I have to admit I'm not that familiar with the Saga series. Not many of the games have been localized for North America. I've played Romancing Saga 3 as that was the one that got fan translated back in the day. I've also played Saga Frontier and the Romancing Saga 2 remake demo on the Switch. I do like the idea of monster/robot races having drastically different playing styles to other races. Reminds me of Shin Megami Tensei with the mix of human and demon characters. From what I've seen that idea was abandoned in other versions of the series. So I'd have to go with that. [*]Yeah, at this point Mana wasn't a series yet so they didn't put much effort in distinguishing it from Final Fantasy. The art style of the enemies was certainly a distinct choice, but they also recycled sprites and designs from the Final Fantasy series. The Chocobo is the obvious one, but the Dark Lord uses the Dark Knight class sprite from Final Fantasy 3 and there's an NPC who uses the Red Mage sprite. [*]Its not that uncommon of a place to start in a fantasy story. It's a very "Conan the Barbarian" type of fantasy trope. I'm seen a few D&D campaigns with similar starting points, especially in the "Dark Sun" campaign setting. There's a Dark Sun PC game (Dark Sun: Shattered Lands) with this exact introductory premise, although it came out in 1993. [*]I grew up playing the Secret of Mana games on the SNES, so yes I'm a fan of the series. I also have fond memories of playing Legend of Mana on the PS1. After that, I haven't really followed the series. I don't really like the 3D remakes of the SNES games, though. I prefer the pixel art aesthetic. [/LIST] [/QUOTE]
