I'm writing this a bit late, as I've been here for a while already, but hello! I'm SylvanSwordstress (she/her)! I got into retro gaming (and gaming in general, actually) after finding and reading a copy of the Himekawa Akira manga adaptation of Ocarina of Time at my local library when I was 10. I fell in love with the series immediately, and as soon as I had internet access, I was playing the old 2D Zelda games via online emulator sites. I couldn't ever save my game, so I would just play the intros to A Link to the Past and all the others over and over and over again. When I inherited my first computer of my own, I downloaded emulators for every system my ancient Macbook could handle and got into all the classics - Metroid, Mario, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy, etc... Ever since then, I've been in love with retro gaming, and my more recent passion for retro anime has coincided with it perfectly.
Some of my favorite games include: The entire Legend of Zelda series, but especially Triforce of the Gods/A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and The Minish Cap; Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu (Genealogy of the Holy War) and Thracia 776, Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. My more modern favorite include all the Soulsborne games by FromSoftware and Shin Megami Tensei.
Anyways, I hope to get to know you all soon!

Welcome to RGT! It's a nice selection of games for your favourites. I find Minish Cap to be super underrated and I'm happy to see some Ys Love. Enjoy your stay!

Yeah it's something to get all excited about something that is deemed old in these days. I never played the GameBoy Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons back when the GameBoy was fresh, just Tetris and Super Mario Land, the first one. Thanks to the internet, online communities like this, can just jump right in and have the pleasure of knowing it's not in the mainstream anymore, only to you. My first emulators were "Nester" Public Beta 4, and SNES9X. I was so blown away and that was in 2002. The emulators at times, simply works of art worth the price of the original consoles to me. Keep the retro passion alive
