What are some of the best games with local multiplayer? Can be a co-op or vs experience. Just about any genre is welcome.

My fiancee is gonna be staying at my house for a bit. Want to have a lot of options for us to play together. I already have most of the Mario Karts and Mario Party games which we like, as well as some Wii games, but would love some more suggestions.

Thanks!

P.S. if there is already a thread for this, I apologize for duping. I couldn't find one.

Beat em Ups are always fun. Shredder's Revenge is great.

Any of the Gauntlet series.
Ultimate Chicken Horse is always hilarious.
Lethal League is a lot of fun for a sorta fighting game that's really easy to pick up and play without any previous experience.
Trine series is a great adventure if you have three players. Probably fine with two. Just avoid Trine 3. It's drastically worse than any of the others.

I can name countless great local co-op games.
For something modern, I'd highly recommend It Takes Two.
For something a bit more old school, you can't go wrong with TimeSplitters Future Perfect.
If you're looking for something on PC, may I recommend Duck Game.
If you want something on your Switch, how about Dokapon Kingdom Connect.
If you want something really retro, Namco Classic Collection volume 1 and 2 running under MAME would be an absolute blast.

Seriously, I could just go on and on.

I saw this thread and instantly thought of future perfect. It might be the best shooter ever. Definitely my favorite

Don't know if you're into action RPGs, but the Borderlands series are great couch co-op games if that's your jam. I'm pretty sure they all have it, maybe 3 doesn't but the others definitely do.

It depends on the system(s) you have. The Smash Bros. games are good for local multiplayer and they've been on every Nintendo system since the N64. There's Portal 2 on the PS4, and the Lego video games too if the kiddiness isn't off-putting.

There's a lot of good n64 multiplayer games. Bomberman, GoldenEye, perfect dark. Mario kart, diddy Kong, beetle adventure racing, Conker's bad fur day, Iggy's wrecking balls, the Mario party games, Tony hawk, 1080 snowboarding, snowboard kids, there's a ton of them and most of them are pretty fun.

I had a lot of fun playing Guacamelee coop with my wife. She's not a big gamer but she enjoyed that one.

I strongly recommend International Super Star Soccer Deluxe, ACME ALL-Stars, Lethal Enforcers II, Burnout: Revenge; Snoopy vs The Red Baron. Oh and Quake: Revolution.
