GOG adds one-click mod installs for select games and pre-tested expansions
Among the initial offerings are prominent fan-made projects such as Horn of the Abyss for Heroes of Might and Magic III, DOOM 3: Phobos, Fallout: London, a large-scale expansion set in the United Kingdom for Fallout 4, and the Unofficial Patch for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. Looking ahead, GOG lists the highly anticipated Skyblivion remake as “coming soon,” which will broaden the lineup of available mods.

i think it's a good start! modding should live :)

You can install these without installing the original game first and it'll come with what's necessary for the mod to run, really does save you some time and storage!

They've been doing this kinda stuff before kinda half assed with things like daggerfall unity but doubling down on this a pretty good move from GOG imo. Seems like a decent way to introduce and keep people on their platform.

GOG going into modding took em long enough :p
at least they have been keeping old games alive so much that even blizzard bended over for some of their games xD (i still find it funny idk why)

i think this is a cool idea for people who dont know how to mod! nexus & steam technically have curated modlists but in my experience most require a lot of reading beforehand to make sure everything is installed correctly.
cant say im not a little skeptical about how thisll play out in the long run though. older titles / completed mods like the fan xpack for HoMM they listed probably dont need to be maintained, but ongoing projects (read: daggerfall unity and most of its mods) definitely need someone keeping tabs on when things get updated, or else well...

history will repeat itself! (i <3 u daggerfall unity nexus)

Nice! It's always nice to the ability to mod games being embraced and enabled.

One of the best things about this is that the author of the mod for Vampire: Bloodlines, Wesp5, can be found on GOG's forum too. Ppl can report the bugs or give suggestions to improve his mod there.

Good, it took them a while but it is good.

While they keep the door open for "non curated" mods (i dont think they wouldnt... but you never know) this is awesome!

Really curious about how this will work. For now it seems like it's more curated big mods only, instead of being open to any modder to upload their more granular stuff like it is with Steam Workshop. This way you get more stable and easy to set up experiences but also it requires a lot more work from their end to maintain, and you run into the issue that if you know what you're looking for it might not actually be there and you still need to go find those mods and install them manually anyway (sometimes still pulling from Steam)

Still, great initiative, and if GoG catches up with better Linux support, and it'll be at parity with Steam in the ways that matter the most to me.

if GoG catches up with better Linux support
I mean one can hope but Valve is still the oddball with linux when it comes to gaming and I'm sure it's mostly because they have the benefit of having a couple billion dollars in their bank account + a free money glitch handy with steam so they can just will things like proper "it just works™" linux gaming (and a mainstream linux gaming handheld while they're at it because "wouldn't that be cool lol") into existence. I'm being really pessimistic here but I just really doubt gog is doing well enough for them to be willing to spend money on supporting a relatively small percentage of their userbase who, let's face it, are likely to have even more issues than the windows users.
