Greetings from your favorite mischievous wolf

I think I've made progress on re-enabling multiplayer on God Eater 3 by redirecting Steam matchmaking to the player's local network, using Goldberg Steam Emulator and the CODEX exe. On first launch, it asks for network permission, which I allow. It doesn't crap out when hosting, but it immediately times out when I search for a room. There are no rooms on my network, so it obviously wouldn't find anything, but the fact that it timed out so fast suggests this might not be stable. I plan on hosting a test at some point, using LogMeIn Hamachi to route the LAN connection over the internet. I'll let you know what the Hamachi Network ID and Discord is and share the mod when everything is about ready.

A heads up to anyone with a lot of progress in the game on Steam: this mod creates a bogus Steam account to save to, and I haven't been able to make this work without causing that to happen. You could try moving your save from your Steam account's save folder to the bogus one, but I can't promise it will be compatible as I haven't tested that myself. You might just have to start a new game.

To cover my own ass, I ask that everyone use this on a copy of the game you legitimately own. This game goes on sale for like $5-10 USD pretty often.

Thanks again to Retro Game Talk and everyone on it for being so wonderful. I look forward to contributing with my jank little work around. Happy hunting God Eaters! I'll keep you updated and fingers crossed!

Wow, this is just a great contributions!
Haven't played God Eater in awhile, but now I'm interested. Again, thank you so much for your contributions ::dkapproves

Success!!! I set up a spare rig and downloaded God Eater 3 to both it and my main computer, then applied the mod to both copies. Both copies are fooled into thinking they're using Steam matchmaking when it's just my local network, and I was able to set up a multiplayer game! Here's a screenshot from my main PC.

I plan to try it out over Hamachi at some point to make sure, but I'm pretty sure it would work. If you would like to try this out for yourself, the link and installation steps are below. To reiterate, please use this on a legitimate copy.

1.) Open Steam and find God Eater 3 in your library
2.) Right click >> manage >> browse local files
3.) Make a backup of ge3.exe in case you want to uninstall the mod
4.) Unzip the file you downloaded from the above link
5.) Copy and paste it's contents into the game folder, where ge3.exe is, overwriting ge3.exe and steam_api64.dll
6.) Launch the game from ge3.exe
7.) The game will ask for network permission. Allow it.
You may now play the game as you normally would with anyone on your network, with no dependence on Steam matchmaking.
