+ Back buttons on EVERY controller

This convenience should've never been paywalled as a "Pro-version".
Like side buttons on gaming mouse, I can't play any FPS games without them.

This might be controversial, but Gyro aim is really good!

Once I set "Gyro to mouse" option for my Dualsense, activating it, by touching the touchpad, it was turning the controller into an arcade light gun. So much better than thumbstick aiming.

Demo before release. And not just any curated demo that showcases a part of the game but from start to a certain point of the story and when the full game releases having the ability to transfer your save file.

I was sceptical of Metaphor Refantazio at first but after playing the demo I bought it day-1. Otherwise I would have waited for a 50% sale.

I would be okay also with a demo not from the start, at least I want it to show me how the game works (graphics, battles/mechanic, etc), there are games that I bought day-one because of the demo, but some demos also prevented me to waste money in a game I would have not liked (not because the game lacked quality, but because of my tastes).

May it depend on the game? (I'm just leaving my opinion, not trying to defend gacha and free-to-play games and their mechanics, also not trying to switch on a long discussion about it!)

There's a game we're playing on Switch, "Gems of War" (it's also on other consoles): it's free-to-play and it has purchases, if you want, but there's A LOT you can do everyday, with no limits (exploring, pvp, challenges...). Of course without purchases it's more difficult to advance faster, to get the rarest troops, etc... but if compared to other free-to-play games I've tried it's really FREE, a casual player could enjoy a lot of contents for a lot of time without spending a single cent.

Once I've tried "Assassin's Creed Rebellion" on phone, I liked the chibi graphics and the gameplay was cool but after a few days there were too much time limits on what you could do, and so much time to wait if you wanted the game to be free, that in the end I deleted the app and never downloaded it again.

Also, I have not a great experience with this kind of games (or apps), so I've just written this post because to me "Gems of War" is a nice example of a free game that does not disappoint, if you don't want to spend on it.

Skippable cutscenes. This is more common now but literally every game should have the ability. If games as early as Ninja Gaiden on the NES and Metal Gear Solid on PlayStation (a game where cutscenes play a big part) allow you skip cutscenes regardless of whether or not you've watched them, then no other game has an excuse.

Also, memory cards that double as simple primitive game consoles. I love that stuff on the Dreamcast.

Speaking of memory cards I think they should be an option to take your save files anywhere although cloud saving might be the closest to that

Cheats codes, whatever happened to those? The perfect option for accessibility, or to goof around.

Level/difficulty select from the start. If someone already beaten a game and don't feel like doing so again, let them have options like that.
Or how about "unlock everything from start" option? Anyone can download 100% save file. Or new game plus?

I used to play with cheats on GTA when I was a kid, but when my friends showed me that without them the game is more fun, I never used them.

The reduced flexibility to move saves around in favor of cloud storage is part of the larger, shitty trend of "you will own nothing and be happy" that large companies love.

The only "good" thing about restricting how you use save files is it makes exploiting your console (i.e. tonyhax), or cheating in /some/ online games that way a little harder. I can see the rationale there, but I don't think it entirely justifies the removal of such basic features.

Ideally, you could move your saves at your own leisure, and cloud saves become a bonus convenience. Like on PC.

This, 100%.

Part of the reason I enjoy going back to a certain era of gaming again is due to how stupid some of these codes used to get, whether it was unlocking a buttload of content to play around with as a group or just making everyone flat/big-headed.
