What are some big and minor screw ups in the translation/localizing of games that you noticed and any specific translation that was screwed up via mistake or on purpose that gets on your nerve ?
Also side by side Translation examples would be appreciated to see the differences.
Example:
mm2.jpg

JP: Who are you? I almost shot you by accident.
mm3.jpg

JP: I'm Terry. I'm a hunter in these mountains.
mm4.jpg

JP: Capturing animals is like my job.

Final Fantasy VII in Spanish is such a joke... like, I'm convinced they just fed the script to Babylon Fish or Alpha Google Translate.

Whatever that is, that's NOT Spanish -- and it's the whole game.

I don't have the Screenshot but they also messed the german translation for Tales of Graces up when they Characters clearly said Amnesia in English wich would translate to Amnesie in German but they completely refused to write it and used another word for it as if we where stupid.

I Completely forgot about that one from a event in Genshin Impact

Also I heard localizers love to Insert Memes and cringe slang words like SUS into the translation from time to time
do any of you have some examples.

I often notice official English translation of Japanese games write some random sentence about the related topic, but sometime they ignore the topic too. When dialogues don't really matter it's ok but for example when they do the same shit in Persona games it's not ok at all because even word choices matter!!!

Especially when it can change the whole context and meaning of a Situation.
Why can't those people just do they job they are hired to do instead of playing pranksters or trying to be hip by Inserting slang that they think the kids love

How Localizers/Translators probably feel

Same thing with the french translation. Most of the dialogues made no sense. When they made a retranslation, it was like playing a totally different game ::rolleyes

I would learn Japanese and play all the game in the Original Language but I am to lazy to learn Japanese
(Besides I rather learn French and Irish but well ::sailor-embarrassed I did not really Improve upon them at all either)

Cyber Sleuth localization is pretty rough, not only do you get multiple prompts like the one in the pic that is just one long option, there are multiple times throughout the game where they use Bakemon on conversations because the voice acting made it sound as "Bakemono" which is the word for monsters making us believe that poor Bakemon is responsible for a lot more stuff he was ever around for.

I love those games, but they are definitely not perfect! ::eggmanlaugh

That weird american obsession in the 90's when they remove everything japanese from japanese games
Many examples but Persona 1 for ps1 probably the worst one
Not only translation was butchered to death, but every asian characters was race swapped
like come on what the point

They cut out the storyline about Max and Kane being long lost brothers in Shining Force.

honestly i wish they used all 8 of these together. They could easily be NPC palette swaps.

Then let's talk about how they deleted the actual story mode of video games to translate less like in Ace Combat 3 and Shiritsu Justice Gakuen series lol.
