With the absolute abysmal state of the secondhand market and scalpers having done all they can to screw the market, what are some titles you wished you'd kept hold of? What are the titles you are glad you kept?

I wish I'd held onto Alundra, Parasite Eve and Digital Devil Saga. They were a pain in the arse to get back after the market boomed.

Games I'm glad I held onto. Xenogears, The Saga Series, Persona 2.

What do you regret letting go of? How has the scalper market affected you, personally?

i think the later dot hack games are like a million dollars so its nice to have those
twilight princess on gamecube is one that i was surprised was like over one hundered spankers
arc the lad one through three but i think those are not too expensive
xenogears is i think the one big one i wish i still had my childhood copy of i think its like a lot of monis now

my Gamecube and DS collection

I refuse to sell them and buy the games again with godawful prices
Which titles have you got?

I see Shadow the Hedgehog is selling for a stupid price, considering the game is uhhh... divisive. Only the GC copy is worth money though.

I myself have 1 2 and 3 was a pain to get. 4?
I had to get it in Japanese.

It's so dumb.

If Digital Devil Saga boomed, that's just silly. It got reprinted at least once.

A part of me wishes I'd kept everything, because I spent the time and energy collecting things and that was all good memories. But a bigger part of me is glad to be free of the clutter. I think at peak, I had 700 physical games including limited editions, a bunch of peripherals and stuff, and like 25 different systems and variants. I scaled it down by probably 95% and even though I'll still likely not play the stuff I've kept since I can emulate it all, I like at least having a few things: a handful of PS1 games, a NGPC and a handful of games (I might try to collect a full set since it's totally doable), and then I think I have every version of PSO and almost every version of Sid Meier's Pirates. That's enough for me.

As far as what I regret? There's probably 150 of them, but the main ones are Panzer Dragoon Saga and Ninja Five-O. I used to have a list of what I owned, but I'm not sure where it went. It would be fun to find it and price what it would be worth nowadays, just to really ruin my own day, heh

I've got copies of Kirby Super Star Ultra, The Dark Spire and Retro Game Challenge for DS and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, if I remember correctly those games blew up in price. Nothing too crazy by today's bonkers standards, but still.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's more, but I've stopped checking resale prices in general. Speculators and collectors have kind of ruined that world for me.
I'll gladly stick with reproduction carts when I want a physical copy.

Digital Devil Saga only boomed in PAL, as far as I know. Unfortunately, I am in that region.

I wish I'd had the option to keep or throw my stuff. It was out of my hands.

My childhood copies of Mega Man X3 and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, no doubt.
Oh yeah. The fire emblem titles are hell expensive now.

"speculators" call them what they are. scalpers and launderers.

Man I used to have Retro Game Challenge but lost it years ago somehow. Still mad at myself for that.

As for stuff im glad I kept: Yo-kai Watch Psychic Specters, DrillDozer (although the rumble motor probably needs to be replaced, sadly) and Kirby Super Star Ultra

and for a kinda odd case, keeping the backbone port of Marvel vs Capcom 2 installed on my 360
People charge hell for MvC2 so having the digital version available, specially after it got delisted, was dang good (really glad its more easily available now)

Crap! I forgot to include Dino Crisis! Its actually the only PS1 game I have around nowadays lmao

True.

Oh this is actually a really good point! I still have a copy of P.T. on my PS4, I suppose that'd be considered a collector's item to some.

(so bizarre to think that digital rarity is a thing)

Holy crap, you've got a copy of The Dark Spire?! Oh man, that's a regret of mine that I sold my copy of it once upon a time. :o

Selling almost all of my physical gaming hardware, emulation or not, is painful nowadays. I have no idea what my parents did with the SNES and games that I technically owned in my young adulthood, but I hope it's in storage somewhere at their house. If I were them, I wouldn't have trusted with the stuff after I moved out.

I suppose we were all young and stupid once. It's that magic age range from teenager to college kid. The scary part is that some people never grow out of that mindset. For me, it was a stupid series of mistakes made by someone else.

Still hurts.

True.

I still have P.T. on my ps4 also but it doesn't work anymore. I'm glad I kept my copy of Marvel Vs Capcom 2.

I sold my sega, and n64 collection way back when. Kicking myself now. I had Starcraft 64. Wasn't good, but its rare.

I'm glad that I somehow managed to keep most of my Nintendo 64 games after all these years. I'm also glad that I am handy because old game stuff constantly wears out if you don't know how to keep up with them

-I wish my folks didn't hock my limited edition Diamond and Pearl DS Lite and my white DSi to fund their alcoholism back in my early teens. I'm still fucking salty about that one.
-I gave most of my PS2 games and my Gameboy Color with games to a poor neighbor kid. I don't regret it. I modded my PS2 to run the ISOs.
-I wish I still had my N64. Would have liked to pop an Everdrive clone in it.

I'm glad I kept my copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day and Metroid Prime Trilogy physically. I did regret selling my Wii collection off at one point but got it back a few years ago.

Repairing old, broken gadgets or piecing together your own is one of the great joys in life!

A couple years back I got really obsessed with the idea that I could totally be great at fighting games if I just had a decent arcade stick, so I ended up futzing one together for myself.
I still suck at fighting games of course, but I'm really proud of that wonky thing.

Oh man, now l just remembered the bulky, rechargeable battery pack my stepfather wired together for my old original Gameboy back in the day since that thing was eating up way too many batteries.
Sure, it'd give you a slight shock every now and then, but man I loved that thing.

It probably wasn't even worth as much then as it is now. That's rough. I'm so sorry!

My ex pawned all my stuff, so I know you feel.

Wii games are relatively cheap still at least.

Except maybe Opoona. Try getting that one, now.

They did have rechargeable batteries back then. You just needed a charger.

I think the best of my collection even in only as a disc is probably Radiant Dawn on Wii. I think I bought it preowned at a new game price but damn I'm so glad I have it. Haven't checked the market yet but I bet I could still fetch a good price for my Haunting Ground if I shill out for a refurbished case and sleave and I won't lie I bought Xenosaga 2 just as an emergency to sell back for fast cash. Nothing else rare in my collection other than those I think, most of the time I try to only buy what I want to play on hardware or can't emulate proper.

I sold all my PS1 games when my PS3 went kaput. I slightly regret not keeping the games although I did get good prices for a lot of the games.

Most of the games I have aren't particularly valuable, usually capping out somewhere around that 40 dollar range, but the most expensive game I had was a complete copy of Herc's Adventures. I needed some extra money at one point around when a lot of the retro market started to boom and ended up selling it though. I got 100 for it when it was still worth 120. I felt a little bad at the time since that didn't leave much of a margin for the reseller, but seeing now that at one point the game went up to like 200 in terms of value, I think there's a decent shot he made his money back on that one.

I think I've posted this before but my copy of Haunting Ground for the PS2 is my 'rarest' hard copy of anything.

I also have like, the OG black label Final Fantasies VII, VIII, and IX, as well as X and X-2. Oh and the original Crash Bandicoot.

In terms of games I sold myself, I wish I'd held on to my copies of SMT: Lucifer's Call, DDS1+2, Final Fantasy Anthology. I also sold my N64 with its 10 or so games at a car boot for a stupidly low price, but we needed the money, so what can ya do.

Oh yeah, and before that, my stepdad sold my Sega Megadrive and all the games that came with it. Wasn't even his to sell as it was a gift from my Dad. What a cunning stunt.

Games I'm glad I've kept: Metal Gear Solid and SMT: Persona 4. And about 80% of the PS1 and 2 games my brother and I grew up with.
