Games you love but are bad at

almost every game tbh.

i just got d rank in bloody palace in dmc4 (reached level 9) before getting my 3rd settled city in civ 5 effortlessly captured by an army that could analrape my entire empire thrice over and make it back home in time for lunch, on king difficulty no less. i'm dogshit at games despite devoting a relatively large chunk of my time to them.

granted dmc4 is closer to like than love but still.

Fighting games in general I want to be able to do sick combos but I can't do it very well
Dude i watch videos online of other people pulling off sick combos, take a lot at the input, because of intense copium tell myself meh i can pull it off, get the try and pull off the combos get my ass handed to me,exit retroarch, repeat when i see another combo.

Tbh you just have to lab it
And keep labbing
I play hinokakura sometimes it's combos are very satisfying

i'm not sure
first person shooters i am very bad at but i am also not really a fan of the genre - i am just vey passionate about the first person shootzors i do enjoy like shadow of chernobyl
the only thing i do well in them is shoot people from far away while peacefully hiding away - any kind of real time action in shoot games i spin my mouse around screaming until i have been killed by death

i think rhythm games would fit for me on this.

i LOVE music, especially since im a musician. but i feel like since i AM a musician and also have a few very specific forms of synesthesia (specifically the ones relating to involuntary motor functions triggered by sounds), it makes the rhythm games im playing either extremely difficult or piss baby easy.

for example, if im at an arcade and any rhythm game has Night of Nights (touhou song), its a Full Combo. Full Stop. But then lets say im playing Project Diva or Guitar Hero or something. If the chart is horrible and doesnt match my internal mapping for how the beat or guitar or whatever is supposed to go, i just cannot win.

it can get really frustrating, REALLY quickly

I really like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate although it cost me a lot to learn its mechanics, I finished the story mode but the G rank mode HR7 makes me feel like I'm a beginner who can't do anything when I'm already beaten.

Funny how common responses Fighting Games and Shmups are. On one side, FGs are inherently competitive, and that breeds a set of difficulties of it's own. On the other, shmups are the single gaming genre where I see the most passionate fans, paired with the most difficult mental health issues to do with playing the games. And I AM a shmup fan too, I get it!

I'm pretty bad at anything that isn't an FPS . . . and I'm only mediocre at those.

I would say that my biggest mismatch of love to skill is with grand strategy games. I really like games like Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, and Stellaris, but I am so, so bad at them. I've pretty much stopped playing them, though, because they eat up so much time.

I have a love/hate relationship with Fighting Games. There's a lot of stuff I like at them (Characters, Music, Mechanics, all that stuff), but then I get to playing them. Sure, I'll be having a good time, maybe even having a bit of fun, but then the SNK Boss comes in, stomps a mudhole in me for about 20 minutes straight, and then I'm tilted for a while.

SEGA's Super Monkey Ball series comes to mind. I go in with a mindset of wanting to finish (at least one of the games) concentrating, becoming familiar with the controls, completing several stages.. only to get to a level where I'm stump and become frustrated and eventually stop playing the series altogether for months years.
