For instance, Tomb Raider II is my favorite of the classics, for few other reasons than it having a sunken ship level... and fire breathing dragon boss... and a surreal level of floating jade islands. So I guess a few reasons, but I am still a sucker for ship levels.

I also like Project Zero 4 specifically just for it having a lighthouse.

I enjoy Scooby-Doo Mystery just because I had it as a kid and enjoyed it. Really made me feel like I was part of the gang solving mysteries except the terrible jumps you have to make or else lose a life, and the stupid way the game handles getting damaged by enemies, and the idiotic fact that there are parts you  have to take damage at, killing any concept of a no-damage run, but other than that I enjoyed the game.

people have special reason to like games. My only reason to like any games I play is the enjoyment they bring me. If it does not bring me joy then I don´t like it. It´s a video game it does not need to be complicated.

Panzer Dragoon 1,2 Orta...well because you fly a badass dragon.
Dark Sector because of the cool weapon (Glaive).
Racing games with an Impreza WRX...favorite car.
Ninja Gaiden arcade for the Flying Neck Throw (just that one stupid move).
Sci-Fi ship corridor games because of atmosphere.
16 bit games for simple nostalgia.

Too Human for the Xbox 360. Why?

This and Captain Blood are fine examples of what being in developmental hell looks like (and Cyberpunk 2077 for that matter too).

It went through so many changes and so many different console generations that it barely got released, and it only got released through a legal technicality (which involved the devs using pirated versions of the Unreal engine they used to make the darn game in the first place.)

All in all, it's a repetitive, linear and honestly, quite meh of an action rpg.

You can probably find a lose copy of it from your local secondhand games shop.

Depends on the people who worked on the games.

I'd play anything if you mention Hideki Kamiya/Suda51/Swery65/Yoko Taro/Kishida Mel on the credits. Swey65 in particular has few games that's not known much to the masses but worth checking out, like D4, The Missing JJ Macfield and The Island of Memories, or The Good Life.

Resident Evil Village because Lady Dimitrescu.... but not for a reason you might think of. In the Japanese dub, she is voiced by Inoue Kikuko, whom in the span of almost 40 years of her career you can count how many times she played a dommy mommy character on one hand, so this is quite a rare treat.
Fire Emblem Heroes for similar reason.

Also, Neptunia series for deep shout outs and references that flies over most people's head.

I can write a book about all the games I like for "arbitrary reasons" that doesn't even makes sense to me in logical context, so I'll just write the most arbitrary one: Resident Evil 3 on PS1.

I really dislike zombie games, playing as a woman character is what I avoid unless I like the character, I really dislike early Resident Evil series due to tank controls and bad camera angles. So you know logically I should hate this game right? I guess the heart is blind therefore I just like this game for its city vibe, especially all the areas you can go until Nemesis bothers you. I just like the way how city is so serene, lacking people so I just enjoy to be in the city in peace and enjoy how city is and looks like. Rather ironic considering how danger lurking in every corner, I know it's weird but emotions don't have to make sense right lol? No wonder I like the first episode of The Last Man on Earth, that made me understand one of my secret dream was living in the world all alone enjoying my alone time doing all the crazy stuff lol. Thus thanks to Resident Evil 3 kid me understood I really love the post-apocalyptic genre and the sense of loneliness it brings.

While I still enjoy the PS1 version for the same reasons the remake couldn't capture that sense which is a shame. City seems more like a movie set which I mean obviously fake boxes that looks like building and your loneliness doesn't last that long. Despite PS1 graphics are not that "good" it still captures the vibe of a city better than remake can and it tells a lot about better graphics doesn't mean better visuals.

Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires

Even though it lacks a banger of a theme song (really missed EVERFREE from DW4E), it has an all-map Free Mode; that means that every campaign I do on a ROTK game (10 or 11 for example), I can simulate and relieve it the Dynasty Warriors way

Cybermorph for the Atari jaguar. I don't think I ever played if for myself (will do someday), but I like looking at it. I like spaceships, the early 3D stuff, the exploration and the atmospheric silence.

inb4 where did you learn to fly

For me, it's REZ by SEGA.
I love REZ by SEGA.
Playing REZ by SEGA with the TRANCE VIBRATOR accessory is a transcendental experience.

Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival gets SO MUCH SHADE for not reading the room, not having strong mechanics, and being a disgusting shill for Amiibo.

But my family and I had a good time. We came up with our own in-jokes while playing, got really invested into the Stalk Market element, and laughed at the hilarity of the game’s nonsense. We somehow warped the tiny cat, Katie, into a demon in cats’ clothing who steals people’s souls and seals them into the cards she sells. Why did we think this? It’s such a long story, but the core is because that’s just what my family is and was.

Another game like that is Wii Sports Resort. My sister and cousin would make a ton of Mii’s, all with white or black shirts. White shirts were angels, black shirts were demons. They had a whole storyline about heaven and hell fighting, and they played it out in Wii Sports Resort. A battle between heaven and hell… being decided over a match of table tennis lmao

I’m with Ciro. Was that an actual thing with an unfortunate name, or is that a “special” accessory?

I think it's a lowkey evil game with evil microtransactions and evil corporate mandates ruining it, but when I got the chance to play Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League for free cuz I had amazon prime... lowkey the shooting was pretty fun. I just liked getting headshots with the sniper character.

And honestly that’s hella valid. Fun is fun. I won’t be judging.

What is it about headshots in games that are continually the most satisfying thing ever?

I don't like soulslike at all, but I have to say I liked bloodborne only and exclusively for its art design.

“Average day in the UK” kind of game
