Hello, I'm Leo and for the past decade I have been daydreaming of making my own RPG Games with my OCs, in the style of Tales of Symphonia, Abyss & Vesperia!
I love videogames with a variety of multiple characters choices but I absolutely hate when they limit me to only using 3-4 at the time!
Please recommend to me games that have balanced the formula and break the usual limitations
I love Designing OCs and writing Lore about them
However because I have a big team of OCs (around 13 for that project) I would like EVERYONE to be have a fair chance in combat without Benching the majority of them!
In the future I may add a Brainstorming thread about my ideal game design to fix this issue
Here is my own recommendation!
The Last Remnant
PC | Xbox 360 | PlayStation 4 | Nintendo Switch | iOS | Android
PROS
This game has a REALLY special place in my heart
It's the first game I played the DEMO when i first bought my PC and was gifted on STEAM by a friend
I had 80 hours on it, never finished it and I had to Uninstall because i was dangerous low on hard drive memory
THE GAME HAS BEEN DELISTED FROM STEAM years ago because it got an HD version exclusively for the Microsoft store
Note: the game is in the Internet Archive

- Multiple Characters
- More than the usual 3-4 party members during combat
- Splitting the cast into Multiple Teams (2 to 4 teams) and exploring different levels/parts of the dungeon

"The game features a unique battle system in which the player commands multiple groups, or "unions", of characters rather than individual units."
The game features a battle system labeled by Hiroshi Takai as a "turn-based, command-based system using symbol encounters".
During a battle, each enemy from the world screen is represented by a group, or "union", of enemies ranging from one to five individual units; similarly the player's forces are composed of multiple unions of three to five units each. The skills of the units in the player's unions, which include both story characters and hireable units not appearing outside of battle, vary according to different parameters.

PROS
- 5* Unions and 18 units*as you level up and progress the story
- *It may depends on which version you are playing! You can get 25 units with the TLRPlanner but it may crush the game!
- Each unique party member (total 35+) has unique dialogue and a unique quest to do to add them in your party.
- You can turn the QRTs OFF and speed up the battle system
- You don't have to buy equipment and weapon upgrade for other characters, after the end of a combat a character will request material from the loot so they can upgrade their own equipment!
- they can request you to get a weapon you already have in your inventory to skip the grinding for materials
MIXED
- Because you can have so many character you may stuck with a lot of Generic characters early in game, unless you do special quests to unlock unique leaders
- A lot of Sidequests
- IT'S A VERY LONG GAME IN FACT
- The Command system can be complicated to understand because it determines on your Teams' place in the battlefield and the team members
- It can be complicated to understand, and you DEFINITELY NEED A GUIDE to upgrade characters' classes because the upgrade system is extremely cryptid
- The game has a LOT of hidden information from the player
- best strategy is to keep low fights until a certain part of the early game so you can upgrade characters way easier, which made me ditch my old save file and speedrun the game at that point
- You definitely need to get the TLRPlanner! A Mix of a trainer and an information tool to see those hidden values (you can also cheat if you want to LOL)
