Games that inspired you to read books

Quintet, Illusion of Gaia, it made me obsessed with certain myths, like the tower of Babel and some architectural marvels like Angkor Watt, the Pyramids, The hanging Gardens, etc.

I picked up the Witcher books last year after years of wanting them after 3. I also want to get the Metro books and maybe Romance of the Three Kingdoms after I recently got into Dynasty Warriors.

Rendezvous with Rama (the game), got me curious enough to read Rendezvous with Rama.

Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth, got me into Lovecraft.

Ghost Recon, got me into military fiction.

Witcher games introduced me to Sapowski and the Witcher short stories. Same with the various Lord of the Rings video games, and Dungeon and Dragons introduced me to R.A. Salvatore and his Icewind Dale series.

Starcraft has great novels
Especially The Dark Templar Saga

Other then that, I liked reading the Zelda and Pokemon manga if that counts as reading in this thread.

A lot of cyberpunk games in general led me down the rabbit hole of finding key authors in the genre like William Gibson. Probably Snatcher more than any other.

Castlevania made me read Carmilla, The Witcher made me read the two first books, Xenogears/Saga and many post Neon Genesis Evangelion japanese Games got me into Nietzsche. But mostly the Bible, that's the most referenced book ever, I just Downloaded Linda3 Again (PSX) and that Noah's ark/Ten comandments opening is just hilarious

None. I'd say it was anime which sorta got me to read books, but that's not entirely true honestly.
I started reading novels because I was tired of videogames for a while, and I always wanted to read some Sci-Fi Cyberpunk nonsense.

Oh, I don't read if I don't need to, gives me eye cancer. I read the Green Bay Packers news though 😅

Samurai games like The Last Blade and Onimusha gave me an interest in Samurai media, which led to me reading works like The Book of Five Rings and Hagakure, among others.

I am not playing any of the witcher games until i have read every last book. Yeah i am that kinda guy. :v
