It is my favorite Tony Hawk game overall, i do think it's the best in the series too, people have a soft spot for Underground 2 but i don't think it's nearly as good

I do think THUG1 is a way better game than 2 but for many years THUG2 gameplay and physics were considered the definitive ones on the Tony Hawk fandom, despite the fact i've always thought THAW was better in all those regards too...
