We always hear about games missing deadlines (sometimes by several years) and of the enormous material and monetary costs that come with that, but what about the other side of that coin? After all, not every studio bites more than they can chew.

I personally only know of one game that was finished ahead of schedule: Mischief Makers on the N64, which beat its own ETA by two weeks and afforded Treasure the possibility of fully testing it and polishing it before it was due to store shelves. I think this shows on the final product.

Do you know of any other examples of this sort of thing?

Not a game but let's remember how we were so happy for Sega Saturn was released in America a few months early!! Take that Sony!!! lolol

As for a game, all I know is PC release for Metal Gear Solid 5 was taken 2 weeks earlier because we sent Metal Gear to Konami lol.

Final Fantasy XII.

I remember the ISO was on internet like 3 weeks before the game was released, people finished it before it touched the stores.

I had a similar situation with Metroid Zero Mission, blew my mind at the time.

If we can include leaks then I finished Zelda Tears of the Kingdom waaaaay before it released lolol.
