Now ive done the dreamcast today with help from people in the group would want to have a go at gamecube for tomorrow
as a standalone emulator. Best one please in your opinion if it goes anything like today with flycast i should have it done pretty
quickly. Thanks for any help.

Wouldnt mind getting myself some Wii games too if its dual capability. Ive played mario kart wii and super smash brothers wiii on there.

I have a switch but i have seen videos of switch emulation im sure nintendo absolutely love that.

Is there even any option other than Dolphin?
Truth. And I know retroarch can be frustrating, but the build of the libretro core (arch repository) works flawlessly, in my experience. So I can't see how anyone could encounter any trouble with whatever the standalone build is.

original wiis had the gc ports built into the console - I will say wii emulation is a pain without a remote save for games like brawl that support classic controllers

I think retroarch uses Dolphin.

Technically the Wii is just a slightly overclocked Gamecube...
Huh... Is that true? That is interesting. I don't know much about technical stuff. So the wii cpu and ram are pretty much the same architecture as the gamecube?

Yeah, I think it has a dual GC GPU setup going on.

Originally motion controls was suppose to be an addon peripheral, then they decided to just shove motion controls on the Gamecube and viola you get the Wii.

Course motion controls were a Gimmick... and they threw away their entire customer base to get casual gamers to try it. 90% of people who got the Wii only played the Wii Sports games... and then barely touched the console after so it became an expensive paper-weight for most people.

But that's all superficial information, on why the Dolphin will play Wii games too.

If you got a headset, you could also check Dolphin VR. As of now it's an old 2016 build but Metroid Prime is amazing.

Wow that's pretty forward thinking. Must be somewhat non trivial to implement for a wide range of headsets so maybe that's why it hasn't (at least presumably?) made it to upstream yet.

If I understood Nintendo just DMCA'd them to oblivion, just like CitraVR.

Most headsets are too heavy, bulky, unnatural, requires a huge amount of free space not to hit anything, and strain your neck.

Not worth it.
Everyone thinks like you. Also, motion sickness. That's why I got a pristine Oculus Touch headset for 100$. I wouldn't advise to buy a new one. But if you got one, Dolphin VR is freeware and Metroid Prime is played seated.

Maybe. Seated on the couch? In a chair? Stool with nothing else around you?

I don't feel like ignoring all external stimuli and plugging myself into a simulation. I'll go AR, preferably CastAR if that ever returns, but otherwise i don't see the point.

I tried Stereoscopic on Skyrim.... and hated it. Yeah that's not the same thing, but one thing that stood out is how flat everything was as i could see the 3D models for the road and everything, where the textures on the screen did a decent job of hiding it. Just felt less fun. Probably be even moreso when you add motion controls.

I don't think the tech is quite there yet. Call me pragmatic, but I don't see the point. I have a friend that is eyeing a headset over a GPU upgrade and my logical mind is quietly exasperated by this.

Fact is, having a Oled 2k miniscreen for less than 100 bucks is a good deal. PSVR2 are also interesting, and people will try them, get sick and sell them cheap real soon. With the enshitification of things it's more than probable it will be the best consumer tech availble for this price, ever. Call *me* a pragmatic.
