Hi! Haven't posted or been posting on any forum sites for like almost 12 years now? I've been an active member of forum sites before (Otaku streamers, animax-asia, anime planet etc). Due to the growth of social media platforms, forum sites has almost been inactive. BUT, as we all know, social media sites and the internet in general has been tiring. Just your typical clout posting and brain rot, nothing more. I missed using this kind of website because you know that the people using these kind of websites are the same as you or people that's actually still looking to interact in a way related to something that's not always talked about or things that's not pushed to us by our social media tech company overlords.

ANYWAYS...INTRO ABOUT ME!
As mentioned, yes I am one of those people from early to mid 2000's that came used to enjoy the internet the way it is. Kinda glad that CDROMANCE website move on so I had a reason to actually register and thought about posting here as well. I hope I can be active, I'm a working adult with a lot of things to do in my daily day (adult stuffs). Let's all get along well!

I'm into retro gaming (just like you guys) but I am also trying to relive the early to mid 2000's as well by watching only animes from those era and also games too! Recently I got interested in collecting tech from those eras too, starting with Nintendo DS and an old Xperia phone. Let's be active on this forum and leave behind those social media crap!

I wouldn't say "inactive" but forums never experienced much growth beyond the late 2000s, they never will be mainstream because they cannot keep the masses entertained like social media can, and as such advertisers and big companies have little to no interest in them; there's no feed here to make you lurk and consume content like tv, it's an actual place of discussion where your opinion can and will be heard.

I guess you're right but reddit took that "community forum" feels too. but the best things about these legit forum sites is that this is not backed by huge companies and is fueled only by the community through interactions and donations.

It SEEMS like that but you can't really talk to people there, downvotes hide your comments so it encourages echo-chambers and you must also abide by the jannie's moral compass to not get banned.
Happy to have you aboard anyway.

Nice introduction, welcome to RGT.
Please enjoy your stay, meet lots of people, and most importantly have fun! ?
Thank you! Forum sites are a good way to detox from clout chasing brain rot that is social media

I enjoyed reading your introduction.
Hello,hello~
Wow thank you! Forum sites still feels home for me

I always had a certain feeling towards forums, almost as if they were some magical places, where everyone can be anyone, not like the utterly homogenization of social media and the likes of it. No wonder I love all of this site! Glad to know you're loving this type of place as well, welcome aboard!

For years, I thought Reddit was the rightful successor to represent next-generation forums, but just like in 'The Truman Show', at some point I realized that the horizon was just a painted blue wall and some stage props also started to collapse to the ground, to thus reveal all the real flaws of the platform.

Personally, what really frustrates me is the lack of a page divider, because without it, reading the archived discussions is almost impossible in a popular and constantly growing group, because at a certain point the web browser just 'explodes' from the overload and kicks you out with nothing to show for it.

On top of that, sections are not properly labeled (in some groups they don’t even exist) and this makes Reddit feel more like a successor to Yahoo! Answers rather than anything else.

Now that you've mentioned it. Yes it does felt like Truman Show. Nowadays it just feel similar to an Instagram with forums.

You forgot to mention that a lot of the users are just bots.

Welcome Fujiwara

Welcome.

GameFaqs used to be good. But now, my goodness, it has been overtaken by unhinged individuals that are so heavily tied to left wing politics that it makes Reddit/Resetera look sane, sometimes.

I pray this site will never fall like that, and I doubt Spike would ever let it, unless he sells off the site to someone like Gfaqs did. You better not Spiegel!

I feel like you said exactly how I have been feeling about social media sites; including the nostalgia of old forum pages (like this one!)

You should listen to "#X" from Soul Hackers 3DS. Technically a mid 2010s 3DS game that's a localisation of a late 90s Sega Saturn game but still

Welcome, bro!
I'm also trying to relive the early to mid 2000's
As well.
