(For casual gamers) What game have you played that made you want to 100% it?

My first post ever on the internet. I dont complete most games I play, and the few I complete, I replay but never bother to "100%" it, i just replay sometimes making the same choices and getting the same ending, its like an annual thing for me with some games.

So I ask, the 2 types of game players - the ones who have 100% ed many games and the ones who only beat games to end credits (not do everything) these 2 respective questions - What was the first game you 100% ed with the intention of 100% ing?, and for the other crowd - was there ever a game so great you though you wouldn't mind 100% ing?

Yes, and that game is ICO. What motivates me to complete certain games 100% rather than others is, first, the short duration, and second, if there is a New Game+ option.

Imagine completing all the side quests in an open-world game that wastes your time repeating and traveling between the same activities. That's why I hate most long games because they have horrendous pacing and filler content to keep the player satisfied with the length of the game and make them feel like they got their money's worth, while justifying the exorbitant prices.

True, I always prefer quality over quantity, I think spending little time and still feeling like i got my money's worth type of games are what I want to look to in the coming years. Usually Indies are like that
 
Are we talking about only achievements or the actual 100% in-game? Because there are some games like Persona 5 Royal and FF Type-0 where, even if you get the platinum trophy/100% achievements, you don't actually complete and see everything.

Oh well, anyways, here's some but there are definitely more:
  • Danganronpa quadrilogy (yes, including Another Episode. But I exclude DR S, f*ck that one) on PS Vita
  • Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters (still miss IV and V) on Steam
  • Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series on PS4
  • Ocarina of Time for 3DS
  • Majora's Mask for N64
  • Persona 5 Strikers on PS4
  • Sonic Generations on Steam
  • Super Mario 64 + Super Mario 64 DS
  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Super Mario Galaxy 1
And definitely many others.
I'm not gonna consider games or collections like "simply beat all these games to get the platinum" because they are mostly arcade experiences or games very forward, with no collectables or whatever.
 
That's a hard question to answer because games having a sense of "100%" is a modern thing.

Back then you playing the game and ending it was 100% so whatever game I finished for the first time in my life answer your question but I don't remember the answer lol. It may be either Streets of Rage 1 or one of those Shinobi games on Sega Genesis though.

But then if we have to think about it in the context of games that have optional content to 100% that is not "play the game until the end to unlock contents" like so many racing games + also doing and witnessing 100% of what the game offers then my first game was Radiata Stories. Got all companions, gear and shit, looked for secrets and played both routes of the game which beforehand never cared about doing anything similiar to it for any game. Due to how characters have their daily life with specific routines it was like game version of Groundhog Day without timeloop so I even had Groundhog Day fun stalking people to learn about their routines to discover their secrets lol. And the 2nd game is GTA San Andreas for sure but I did it way beyond 100%, I actively hunted easter eggs and related secrets, glitches and bugs and shit. I literally squeezed the game dry. Since then there were a few games I did similar stuff like Fallout New Vegas, Dishonored 1 and Witcher 3.

They were "surviving until you die" game without having any ending with you remaining alive lol and after you die it's game over so they were "either put another coin into the machine or leave the machine for someone else" game. Or are you one of those people who call GTA 5 a retro game so for you Fortnite would be the start of modern games?

JSRF is one of those games I was able to complete 100%. It took me a while because the instructions were somewhat incomprehensible, but with some guides I was able to get the achievement. GTA SA and VC are those games I'd like to complete 100%, but I suck at performing stunts.
 
Depends of the game if I really enjoyed the game I will 100% it no matter the how hard it is.
 
The first game I 100% was either Portal 1 or some random short mobile game I don't remember anymore. I rarely finish games, even less do I 100% but there are some that have just clicked with me, or if the game is pretty short/ has very little extra content.
