Food can be pretty good irl. But man, does it usually look so much better in anime. Just the way it can look so hyper detailed and delicious... Sometimes looking way more appetising than the irl equivalent.

I felt it necessary to start a thread to share various screenshots, gifs, videos etc, of food in anime. So, share away! and also, were there any particular scenes from anime that you can recall wanting exactly what they were eating?

As for myself, I was obsessed with the anime K-on! back when it came out in the early 2010s, and they would eat a lot of sweets and drink a lot of tea.

There's quite a number of animes and manga that can make me hungry. And I usually watch or read them in front of my computer while eating. Oishinbo, Food Wars, Campfire Cooking in Another World, Mister Ajikko, Cooking Master Boy...

It's more of the description why the food's good, the reaction of the characters and the drama that ensues to the dish's creation. If it was just a screenshot from an episode, it wouldn't really work for me.

But I'll post something anyway...

The Hainanese Chicken episode from Food Wars (Shokugeki no Soma) where Etsuya Eizan cooks Hainanese Chicken. I love Hainanese Chicken and I'm really curious how Satsuma Jidori chicken (a Japanese gourmet chicken breed) differs from regular chicken.

It reminded me of an incident in my childhood of the pet chicken my sister kept which our dog killed. It was an exceptionally fat bird and quite pampered. As kids, it was cooked without us knowing what it was and made into chicken adobo. Since it was a dish that we ate often, we would usually eat it with no reaction...but when we tasted it...wow...it was so fatty and so flavorful from chicken meat fully mature, I could never forget that particular dish. Of course, tears flowed mostly from my sister when they revealed where the chicken came from but I guess that would be similar to how gourmet chicken meat would taste like...
