I recently started reading the Fleetway Comics and have been having a lot of fun. I think I prefer it to IDW at least at the moment (still love IDW though) I'm a big fan of the story arcs specifically the Metallix arc and the arc where Eggman fuses with the Chaos Emeralds. Love character designs though some non Sonic characters look out of place that's my only real complaint with it but I really love Sonic's design idk what I love about the design so much but I just prefer it over his offical designs. Though I will admit I hate how Tails looks I was never really a fan of his brown fur from SATam and AOSTH and for awhile they keep that color scheme but he does just look real weird later on. I

But I'd like to know others opinions on the comic especially since it's a bit more obscure than Archie and IDW it feels like it's just something everyone has heard about. If you're reading this and haven't read the comics I'd recommend you give it a shot. Like early Archie it is a bit mundane at the start but it does pick up as it goes on.

Nice! I’ve been meaning to check out the Fleetway comics, and your post makes me want to dive in even more. The Metallix arc sounds really cool, and I’ve heard the Eggman/Chaos Emerald fusion is wild. I get what you mean about the character designs, Sonic’s look in Fleetway definitely stands out in a good way. Tails, though… yeah, something about his design just feels off sometimes.

It’s interesting how Fleetway feels kind of underrated compared to Archie and IDW. I’ve mostly read IDW so far, but I’m curious to see how Fleetway handles the story and tone. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll give it a shot!

Wasn’t huge on idw and some Archie stuff so fleetway served as a nice middle ground between IDW’s overtly wordy stories and Archie’s stupidly serious comics. Fleetway has a grounded feel to it that resonates more with me.

I'm not huge on Archie myself. I've read most of the Unleashed Arc and the first Volume of Sonic Universe and they were good but idk it just doesn't interest me. That being said I will read it at some point maybe my mind will change idk.

I’ve enjoyed Archie’s more comedic side a lot more than the stuff Ian winded up putting out eventually (no offense of course). The Spawnmower is peak character writing.

I do like evil Super sonic and the fact that Sonic a little more edgy, have attitude if you will, some other stuff like Amy design
But damn most side characters are bland and boring as fuck
And some later stories was horrible, like Tails in another world or whatever

Another weird thing about early Fleetway is art, its really bad, like really really bad, like it so bad it looks like something i would draw and i can't draw
Later on they got a really good artist and i love his style, but it make you wonder how the hell some of those early guys even got hired

Overall i think its pretty decent and its a shame it was canceled
I do prefer Archie, main Archie Sonic that is i barely read any of its spin offs

Never gone really below surface level with the Fleetway adaptations of Sonic, but I do like some of the ideas they had (Like their version of Super Sonic I find quite interesting) and some of the art I find quite nice to look at (I know it was very inconsistent since they had various artists working on it, some MUCH better than others). I've always been a bit of JP purist when it comes to things like Sonic, I genuinely despise the Archie and IDW adaptations and the impact they've had on the perception of Sonic as a series.

Yeah some stories are pretty bad. When they first defeat Robotnik they just do filler which is fine I think that's something you should do after a big arc but at least make it interesting. The main stuff written by Nigel Kitching is really good though imo.

From what I hear it's gets better when Ian took over mostly cause he's actually played Sonic compared to people like Penders but that's fair lol I did always find it weird though that Archie and Fleetway went in opposite directions. Like Archie was more like AOSTH (at the start) while Fleetway is more like SATam

I agree with what you're saying about Archie but not IDW. Everything written in IDW has mandates from Sega and the IDW writers have to stick with those mandates. If you got a problem with IDW it's most likely Sega's fault.

Evil Super Sonic, as in Fleetway Sonic, correct?
