Fish often have cool as hell skulls so I am going to show off some!
First off, here is a swordfish. One of the few fish where nearly anyone could correctly guess the identity!
And for the other extreme, this is a halfbeak. These are related to needlefishes which are predatory. However many halfbeaks are omnivores to even full on herbivores feeding on seagrasses.
Another favourite of mine is the Atlantic Wolffish. These fish use their front fangs to grab an unlucky crab and then use those back molar-like teeth to crush em up. Absolutely insane skulls on these lads.
Another crazy skull is that of the deep sea Pelican eel. As you can see, 99% of the skull is dedicated to those scoop-like jaws and the rest of the head is just in that tiny bony box where the jaws hang off from. Living in a food poor environment does weird shit to your anatomy.
That is all for now, might post more when I have time.
