Any Ess?
NESS?
Nintendo

How did you abbreviate?
What was the slang word to call it?

I've heard British and Australian people pronounce "Sega" as "See-gar". In my world, that would be punishable by death.

"I play cigar, I smoked them"

I didn't start hearing it called that until the 2000s. I never liked it.
I just call it the Nintendo, usually; as literally anyone I'd ever met had been wont to do. ?

nesticle.
we always called it "regular nintendo" and "super nintendo" to differentiate until early 2000s.

You know what would be a real confession?
N-6-4
X-B-O-X-3-6-0

I'm sure you're out there somewhere.

Calling it NES just makes me think of the kid from the Mother series. Nothing against that, but it's far from my favorite. ?

Back when I first encountered the SNES in 1995.

Before that, all I knew that the one before it was called the Nintendo Famicom

Does Earthbound count? Ness, Ninten

Honestly I called it the "In Ee Ess"....still do

Adam Sessler Legend of Zelda Retrospective (Gamespot TV 2000)

At 15 secs Adam says "dates all the way back to the [NESS]" ...

Around where I live people used to call the system a Nintendo. Still do, really - Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64.
same - it was just "nintendo" i didnt hear anyone say "NES" until ten or fifteen years after it came out

So when Mother/Earthbound was localized did Nintendo of America (West Coast office in Seattle) create the name of the character NESS?

Adam Sessler would pronounce N.E.S. as N~E~S often while talking on video.

2006, by watching AVGN.

My theory is that N E S with 3 syllables was a tongue twister and took too long to say.

NESS with one syllable flowed in scripts better.

Calling Super NES the SNESSS? Was that ever used?

I called it the 'nez' for a while as a kid because my only interaction with it was through the 'nesticle' emulator. So it figures when I learned about the SNES I just called it the 'snez'. Pretty soon I started hearing people say N.E.S. and S.N.E.S. in online videos and such and promptly changed my tune :3
