Is it just me? Or passing past the images, Ed, Edd and Eddy looked like it was Korean letters; So i then thought at first pass it was the wrong cover being a translated korean version of the cartoon?

  • The DC animated "Timmiverse", specifically Batman, Superman, and Justice League. They were the most accurate adaptations of the comics ever done up to that point, and still outdo most later adaptations.
  • Captain Planet holds a special place in my heart despite its obvious shortcomings. I wish it was redone by a less corporate-friendly writer/director so that the villains could be more realistic and the stakes could be taken more seriously.
  • Some of the Marvel cartoons of the 90s, namely Spider-man and X-Men, were great. Others, not so much.

One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled.
It was a time of darkness. It was a world of fear. It was the age of gargoyles.

Stone by day, warriors by night. We were betrayed by the humans we had sworn to protect, frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years.

Now, here in Manhattan... the spell is broken. And we live again!

We are defenders of the night! We are Gargoyles!

But seriously, this show was the greatest thing Disney ever cranked out in the 90s, bar none.

At most, it looks like "Ti, Ti-i yu Ti-i-eo" (ㅌ이, ㅌ이이 ㅠ ㅌ이이ㅓ) written by someone who really sucks at writing syllables and vowels. If they had any real writing skill, it would look more like 팅, 팅이 유 팅이어 (Ting, Ting-i Yu Ting-i-eo), but that still doesn't say much. (Note that only the 2nd name could barely pass as a poorly written real given name, while the revised 3rd one could almost pass as a full name. On the whole, it's nonsense.)

For the record, the official title for the series in Korean is 에드라는 이름의 세 친구 ("E-deu-la-neun i-leum-ui se chin-gu", or "Three Friends Named Ed"). Directly translated, it would be 에드, 에뜨 하고 에드이 ("E-deu, E-ddeu hago E-deu-i").

Mhmm. I spent a year in Korea 2006, and got used to it;, Along with working with Katusas (Korean Military, namely mandatory 2 year term 18-yearolds) and the language is filled with circles and lines and it just threw me off guard as i identified as korean letters when scrolling past.

Anyways, enough off topic on that.

I'm sure it is the DVD set. I'm referring to the phenomenon of seeing something else that's similar, at least at first glance.

I am not into Superhero Comic books in general, but i ALWAYS LOVED the DCAU, especially Batman and Superman TAS, but the goatedest one must be none other than

Teen Titans was... okay. Not bad, but if you're a comics fan, okay is the right word for it. They deserve credit for trying to adapt various characters and storylines from the comics within the limits of what Standards & Practices would allow in an at-times somewhat accurate way.

That said, it was clearly dumbed down for a more childish audience than what the comics had. I don't mean that as an insult; literally, they were going for an audience that would have more grade schoolers than the teen-to-YA audience of the comic series. Deathstroke was always called by his given name, Terra made it out much less scarred, Brother Blood is pretty mild for a cult leader, and so on. Meanwhile, everything is handled in a much jokier, anime-esque way, with the main cast being more cutesy, less sexy, less horny, and basically Sailor Moon in DC drag.

That's not to say it's a bad series; it clearly did something right. But as an adaptation, it's a bit off from the source material. At least it didn't have Damian Wayne like some of the later attempts, though.
