FFXIV was my main game from the beginning of 2016 all the way until March of this year. I don't play anymore, but I really do appreciate FFXIV and the friends that I made from it.

Are there any other old heads here (ARR/HW babies)? What do y'all think of the direction the the game is headed in now? What are your cutest glams?

Played it in 2015, stopped sometime in 2017. I want to play it again, but I don't think I can muster to play another MMO these days

I started FFXIV in 2014 I think with 1.0 played on and off and ofc I keept playing with 2.0 but I played to rarely I just started stormblood. Reason I don´t play that often is money. Yes I could afford it I mean it´s only 10.99 for basic but the issue is as a responible adult I can´t just throw money willy nilly so I allowed my self a budget for games and anime stuff and well let say with games coming out I wanna play paying FFXIV sub is low low down on the list. I love the game but well.

So I end up playing Black desert or ESO where I don´t have to pay to play it I can just jump it when I feel like it.

Also my only friend I had there quit playing so now I play solo which makes me less intrested.

Also it pisses me off that I pay for 30 days but does 30 days ticks even when im not login in. Im not saying I should get exactly 720 hours of game time but more like if I pay for 30 days I should not lose a day if I don´t log in that day.

Also their housing system pisses me of I need to pay shit load of gil and may not even get one and if I do I need to keep paying real money just to keep the shit that dumb.

But yeah I love playing the game I have 3 charters I play on. Yes I know you can play all classes on one charter but I have 3 races I like so 3 charters is needed.


So sadly I got no clue on what direction the game is heading as im not even there where the game is at now im FAR beheind.

I played XIV in December 2013 and my dumb 25+ yo self at the time thought it was free to play on the PS3 but I'm glad I had a job then. Still playing to this day, now on PC, not as frequent because of many other games particularly backlogs but still put time to it whenever I have the chance but this month will be tough for me to continue since I got release by the company I worked and I got other more important things to pay.

Dawntrail, at least to me, felt like A Realm Reborn. A calm before the storm, a slow buildup to something great. FanFest is just around the corner and I'm pretty sure the expansion will blow people's mind like they did Heavensward, which is still one of the best expansion even to this day.

I played ARR when it came out up until HW.
I never got HW because i decided to swear off MMOs. They're just too addictive for me and it was taking too much of my time away from other things.

I played semi regularly from ARR to EW and was always a casual player. I didn’t like the way they started writing the storylines around Shadowbringers, where they dropped the more political storylines in favor of a more generic world-saving adventure.
I thought the story in Endwalker was dogshit the whole way through and I was close to dropping the game during the post-launch patches because nothing excited me.

I haven’t played since Dawntrail’s launch patch because I think it’s kind of boring and formulaic now. I still keep myself up-to-date by my friends and brother who still plays, but I’m feeling pretty burnt out. At least the encounters in Dawntrail are interesting and creative compared to EW.
My main Jobs have mostly been Bard, Samurai and Red Mage, and some Paladin and Warrior.

I stopped playing after DawnTrail, but I was thinking in might just give a sub an see the new "open" map, the one that is more like an MMORPG, and less instanced.

My brother and a friend both told me independently of each other that it's the best parts of both Eureka and Bozja combined, if that tells you anything. Sounds pretty promising.

I tend to swap between playing WoW and FF14 for MMORPGs. Granted right now I'm doing well at avoiding them. WoW I tend to run out of stuff I want to do while FF14 more ends up being in game community drama getting me to break. FF14 started on ps4 during HW, didn't make it to Ishgard before I went on hiatus. Came back near the end of SB before ShB launched to play catch up, find my old HW FC divided between 2 different servers, tried staying with the Americans before eventually leaving to join the Europeans. I did end up going on hiatus late into ShB for a break and wanted to come back for EW but login ques were too long and I gave up on the xpac. Tried playing again last year, tried joining on the new American servers, found a new FC, was playing catch up in EW but ran into more FC drama and haven't played since :P I wouldn't mind playing again one day, though I might end up just avoiding joining a FC this time. I am Elezen master race

i played this game maybe years ago as a white mage
very neat stuff i generally disagree with the design philosophies of mmo games and also disagree with the concept of monthly fees to play them (typically this makes developers care more about making content they can stretch out into as many months of logging in as possible instead of caring first and foremost about making fun things) i have no idea where i was going with this line of thought

have any of yall ever did the raids? i was HUGE on raiding, it was practically the only thing i did in FFXIV besides AFK in idyllshire/limsa and RP. i started raiding back during 3.2 (midas) in HW.

god, i miss the jank gameplay of HW Dragoon, that shit was my favourite EVER UGH. if someone made a HW private server, id join in a heartbeat just to be able to hit the striking dummy again with my beloved HW Dragoon TwT
