A selection of modifications to tweak the base game experience.

It uses a modular modification system conceived by Leonarth CG as well as programs by Dartharthron (AiO Editor, Lawyer Tool) to provide specific tweaks, detailed below:

Lawless:
Removes the law system from the game completely, as well as Judges.

Lawless (Timed KO):
Imitates the KO system from FFT, giving the player some leeway before having to revive characters.
(note the countdown ends after "1", not "0").

Lawless (Jagd):
KOed player units not revived before the end of the battle die permanently.

Lawless (Jagd) [Timed KO]:
Combines Timed KO with permadeath. This is the most difficult variant by far.

Lawless (The One):
Maintains the law system, but limits it to a single law per area.

Additionally, every variant includes the "missing items" patch, based on Taelia's work; it ensures both blue magic and certain items and equipment can no longer be missed by the player due to the original game's designers' oversights.

Last but not least, every variant also includes the ability to steal an enemy's shoes via the Steal: Accessory command, another tweak made by LeonarthCG.

Ohhhh! You mean like in Tactics A2? That's a pretty cool idea. Cause when I played FFTA1, it would get annoying following the laws not necessarily because I didn't want to try new stuff but because there was never any incentive to follow the law or drawback for not following it other than getting kicked out the game (that's a funny statement). It would be nice if you got like special equipment or pardons or something along those lines for following the law and then you get like temporary stat decreases/a unit is mia for a certain number of battles barring story fights, or fines for not following the law. Good to see Tactics A2 enhanced the system.

Not to get too off topic, but I honestly think it creates more of an incentive to explore other avenues of play if you get rewards for it rather than laws cause I mean, even in real life, people don't always enjoy or agree with the law, they're just afraid to go to jail or get a fine. XDD
Exactly. Later I will upload a variant that plays more closely to A2 within the limits of what can be done.

It's been awhile since i did a full playthrough, but isn't there a way to nullify laws built in? i seem to remember something story related.
If I remember right there is, yes. A white card maybe? It erases one law for the duration of the engagement.

You are prized for following laws on the second game, which is the right approach.

As someone who played through vanilla FFTA and beaten it around four or so times fully. I will definitely be playing this. Thank you for your work!

Though I would really love to see an FFTA romhack that keeps laws in but adds in various benefits (old or new) that can be selected from FFTA2. Plus adding QoL features in.
Yeah that would be ideal, though it's beyond me as I just used existing tools/patches. Fully transposing the law system of A2 back into 1 would be very nice.

I amended the hack name to better reflect what it does. Will add variants later.

Despite the patch being touted as easy mode, it doesn't really seem like the game will change that much if you don't have the laws other than just being able to do whatever you want. It's not like the Law mechanic is that interesting. I never beat the game but is there some kind of advantage to following the Laws mid battle? Do you get like money or something? Cause if not then maybe this is the more quality of life way to play the game, meaning, you can just do what you want, not that it's necessarily easier.
The point of the system is to get players to actually experiment with the game and use classes and abilities they would normally ignore. You see that a law is keeping you from using a certain type of weapon so you bench one of your mains for the fight and try something new, only to discover, "Oh hey... there are more possibilities here than I originally thought!"

Basically it is in place for exactly the reason that most people complain about it. To break people out of their very limited way of experiencing the game/rpgs in general.

More babies unable to handle the law system smh.

One of the biggest flaws with Tactics games and RPGs in general is that one optimal strategy can easily destroy every combat. A game comes along with a solution to that and everyone poops their pampers.
I have personally finished the game laws and all and I'm sure many have. This is mostly meant for faster replays. No need for the attitude.

I can upload a version with just the missables fix, for those that want it. The fact is the law system in FFTA 1 was extremely restrictive and poorly thought out.

You want to tell laws add an actual incentive towards obedience in A2? yes, that I can agree with.

If the AI made mistakes at random and got affected by it then it wouldn't feel like fake difficulty.

I can see both ends of people on this idea. Personally I was actually hoping this would cut down on the number of unnecessary extra presses to do things, like all the confirmations. But then again, not having to check laws every few turns would reduce wasted time, too. I could never memorize laws every map, I get why they didn't put an icon next to outlawed skills because they want to catch you with it but it gets pretty tedious constantly checking...

Never touched FFT or FFTA
Do you think you could elaborate spoiler free on why i shouldn't play this over my og rom?

thanks
The law mechanic is a part of the experience. it's how it was originally intended and it's also a big part of the Ivalice world as a whole. There's a jail mechanic that loses it's fun without being able to break laws in battle, But to be fair, it's only important for people who are there for the game as a whole and not just the gameplay. I'm not at all telling anyone to not play this, I just think the labeling is wrong. if it was remastered today, I suspect there would be an option to change laws or ease up on them, but i disagree with removing them all together.

Seeing "nicoblog" on the screenshots brings me back to older times.

Also, somebody else bought the domain and is using the old nicoblog logo to fool people to use a weird random rom website that's not affiliated with RGT.

*sigh* removing core mechanics and calling them QOL adjustments or "Definitive edition" is super weak........this is a cool hack, but the name is extremely misleading. It should just be called Final Fantasy Tactics Advance: Easy mode. This stuff never usually bothers me, but I've seen quite a few hacks pop up recently that say QOL or definitive edition and it just gives you all experience on your first kill and unlocks everything all at once. That's not what those words mean....

"Remove the laws from the game, undoing arbitrary combat restrictions."
I may try to play the game again because of this change

I loved this one on GBA! To anyone who wants to play it, enjoy your adventure and maybe with this mod you can enjoy it even more ^_^
