Reporting bugs/glitches should go here instead, so the hack creator can help you directly and fix the patch.

Instant doubt whenever I see a FFVI hack because Brave New World spoiled me. That has everything I want and need in a FFVI experience. I'll give this a fair shake, but it's starting off on the back foot and has a monumental mountain to climb with a lot to prove before I could ever consider it to be a contender to BNW.

Is this better than tedition
That's subjective, and it depends on what you're looking for. The title perfectly captures what this hack is; it reimagines the original game, nothing more. Meanwhile, T-Edition greatly expands on it by adding a lot of stuff, both main and side content, and it fully expects you to exploit the game's mechanics during bosses.

This hack doesn't go that far, mainly just improving things from the original in various ways (script, visuals, rebalances). Some things can be similar, like both having updated sprites for the cast, but they are essentially trying to achieve different goals. Think of Reimagined as playing FFVI with a fresh coat of paint, if that makes sense.

While I agree with you, I feel it would be somewhat disrespectful to the author in this case. I can try creating a variant but there are no guarantees it will work.
No problem. I think the author should include an optional IPS with the original title screen though.

Yes. I prefer it when hacks retain the vanilla thing rather than stuff like that.

Read the game has been changed to make it more difficult, and that usually means the author goes overboard with it, so I don't know if it'll be good for newcomers.
I played an earlier version of this hack and the increased difficulty is mostly just in the fact that a lot of bugs were fixed. It's still mostly vanilla-ish difficulty like a lot of complete hacks for this game are. Since some stat boosts are tied to what armor you equip you also have to consider that if you're having trouble with a boss.

I consider the lack of Esper Level Up bonuses a plus - it is a very poorly thought out system, and one of the many aspects of FF6 that signal the crunch it was developed under.
I don't care for it either lol. But it does bear mentioning.

It doesn't go overboard in my experience, and I won't call myself an expert either. It's not T-Edition level, where fully understanding every mechanic is necessary (buffs/debuffs/summon effects/status ailments/element resistances), so it should be fine if you play it normally and only have basic knowledge. The bonus dungeon, Dragon Shrine, can be hard if you're unprepared. But it's optional, so no need to do it if you don't want to. I will say the difficulty does ramp up in WoR, at least.

As described by the subtitle of the game, which is all a reimagining of the original game, especially in the dialogues that are different from the original dialogues of the base game, but not bad for a Romhack like that.

I tend to dislike difficulty changes as well, but hopefully the author will iterate sufficiently on this to make the curve close to vanilla. I still say the best approach is having one version with the baseline difficulty and one with the changed parameters.

Gameplay wise, the big thing missing is the espers level-up bonuses. But there are improvements in other areas, all listed in the FAQ with other new information. It's also not hard, but the bonus dungeon and its final boss can be tricky.

I've played the previous version of this early this year, and I say it's a good romhack. I'd go as far as recommending this for newcomers so they would experience a great version of FFVI with its many additions, especially the improved script or the aesthetic overhaul. It also doesn't go too far into fanfiction territory either.
Leo's still dead, for example. The 2 screenshots included in the repo are some of the new events, with the one with Shadow is known from interview was cut in final release

Coming from someone who watches the original forum thread, DrakeyC often releases bugfixes, but the version number never changes unless big/new features are added. If you want to keep up with the updates, you may need to check the changelog in the forum if there's anything new.

I hold A Soldier's Contingency in high regard when it comes to FF6 rebalances, and I believe this one has also been made with care.
