Favourite MK (Not Mortal Kombat, Mario Kart) Game?

They act where really good and i love all funny parta like whne herby throw oil to the car seller.
Yeah always gets a laugh out of me, ever on the floor to slip some one up or squatting right at the person.

I definitely have the most hours in mario kart wii, and a decent amount of time in advance, but my favorites gotta be 8. that soundtrack is too good. i still can hardly believe its a wii u game

I've replayed Double Dash recently and while I liked it I feel that I've missed something.

Sure, it's a good game but what makes it "the best in the franchise" besides the swap mechanic?

Ironically enough when I played a bit of 8 Deluxe right after I found the game to be too easy at the same difficulty level (100cc). I know that most of the meat of the franchise is in the 150cc and Mirror mode but the standard became easier as the series has gone on?

I like how MK8DX is full of content but then again I prefer privileging quality over quantity. 16 tracks that are well crafted will always be better on the long term.

I've not played the entire franchise, but these are the ones i liked more:

1. Mario Kart 64 (huge improvement over the first one, unforgettable if played in its time).

2. Mario Kart DS (Really good, with similarities with Crash Team Racing from PSOne, great variety of characters, vehicles and tracks, first one in the series to get online playing).

3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (The best overall, for obvious reasons, but it's a recent overexploited game with more than 8 years behind its back...).

The 4th should be Mario Kart Double Dash, which looks crisp and different from others because of the swapping mechanics but I've not really played it enough... Dolphin emulator or the GameCube emulation from Nintendo Online will help me to decide this in the future...

And the 5th position or even above, according to what most experts say and some gameplays I've seen, could be Mario Kart Wii, but I totally missed the entire Nintendo Wii system... So that's another one for the pending games list...

I really wish I could play the original 8 but isn't Wii U emulation too hard to handle?

I’m playin mk zero. It’s a really fun hack of mkds.

For Me:

1 - Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (2003)
2 - Mario Kart 8 ~ Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (2014~2017)
3 - Mario Kart Wii (2008)
4 - Mario Kart DS (2005)
5 - Mario Kart 7 (2011)
6 - Mario Kart 64 (1996)
7 - Super Mario Kart (1992)
8 - Mario Kart: Super Circuit (2001)

I used to pour hours into playing Mario Kart Wii and playing Wi-Fi races in it. The bike physics felt so spot on to me. I'd just wish they had toned down certain item frequencies.

I've never played any Mario Cart. I don't care for the cartoony ascetic and gameplay, I prefer more realistic racing games like Gran Turismo. Maybe if Mario Cart was more like this Id be interested...

Eh, GT and other racing game like it are part of a different sub-genre, racing sims and party karting games are parallels from each others.

I also prefer a F-zero over a MK but I certainly hope that MK would never try at realism because it doesn't fit the franchise.

It reminds me that Blur existed:

Funny how it mocked the MK series for being cutesy yet it tried too hard to appeal to the "big boys" despite being an item based racing game while older players either played racing sim or pure arcade racers without any items.

Bloodborne Kart! ::smirk1

jokes aside, I've been playing a lot of Double Dash this week and it's been a lot of fun! I used to play Super Mario Kart and MK64 back in the day but I don't think I could get back to them now, unless it was to play with friends splitscreen. I've also set aside MK DS and Wii, and I have played some of MK8 Deluxe, but at the same time... it really is a bit too modern and easy. I like that it has a ton of tracks, but honestly been enjoying much more Double Dash with the Plus romhack that adds... a ton of tracks to it!

Actually, on the topic of ROMhacks, since I'm already playing one. I heard there's quite a scene for modded MK Wii, does anyone have any recommendation of good mods/packs/ROMhacks for that?

I will always like the original one on Super Nintendo.

For some reason, that entire franchise feels like it was made to be on 2D and 2D only.
