The title, really.
I suppose I'll list my favorites.
• Matt Furniss (Especially his work on "Alien 3" (Genesis), "Wolfchild" (Genesis), "Zool" (Genesis), and "T2: The Arcade Game" (Genesis))
• Yuzo Koshiro (Mainly because of "Streets of Rage 1 & 2")
• David Wise (Pretty much everyone at Rare, if I'm being honest)
• Naoki Kodaka
• Tim & Geoff Follin (RIP Geoff.❤)
• Jeroen Tel (His "Robocop 3" (NES) compositions SLAP!)
• Yoko Shimomura (Mainly for "Mario & Luigi". Not entirely familiar with her other works... Although, she APPARENTLY did "Street Fighter 2's" OST as well—which threw me for a loop when I discovered that lol.)

I'm sure once I eventually get into the "Final Fantasy" franchise, Nobuo Uematsu will be on there as well lol.

Since Final Fantasy Tactics is my favorite game of all time, I guess I have to go with Hitoshi Sakimoto.

My favorite composer will always be Shoji Meguro, the man who pretty much has composed a ton of Atlus games but most famously Shin Megami Tensei as far back as Persona 1 and the PS2 era (including the best Smt game Trauma Center :^)). I always listen to his stuff as he has a lot of variety of vibes.

Also Yoko Shimomura is GOATed for her KH OSTs and the use of the violins : P.

Honorable Composers though would be:
-Ryota Kozuka (composer of the more modern era of Smt like Smt V).
-Tetsuya Shibata/Mitsuhiko Takano (Mahvel 2!).
-Toby Fox (funny skeleton man game and the game about delta or something).
-Yuka Tsujiyoko (Fire Emblem as a whole).
-Nobuo Uemastsu (Square games)
-Daisuke Ishiwatari (Guilty Gear and Blazblue).

SHA-V (King of Fighters XI)
Sota Fujimori (Various Konami projects)
Tsukumo Hyakutaro (ThunderForce V, Blast Wind)
Norio Hanzawa (Early Treasure games)
Motoi Sakuraba (Wolfteam/Tri-Ace)

Yuzo Koshiro (Streets of Rage, Revenge of the Shinobi, Actraiser)
Hideki Naganuma (Jet Set Radio. Sonic Rush,)
Michiru Yamane (Castlevania, Skullgirls, Bloodstained)
Raito (Melty Blood, Under Night In-Birth)
Masayoshi Soken (Final Fantasy XIV/XVI)

Yuzu Koshiro (Etrian Odyssey)
Hideki Naganuma (Jet Set Radio)
David Wise (Donkey Kong Country)
Hideaki Kobayashi (Phantasy Star Online)
Jun Senoue (Sonic Adventure)
Kenji Yamamoto (Metroid Prime)

I absolutely love Yoko Shimomura's work in Parasite Eve, Shoji Meguro and Akira Yamaoka in pretty much everything. Also Kai Rosenkranz's soundtrack for Gothic 3 and Daughter's music from Life is Strange: Before the Storm will forever live in my heart.

Hideki Naganuma (Jet Set Radio. Sonic Rush,)
Michiru Yamane (Castlevania, Skullgirls, Bloodstained)
Sonic Rush's OST is amazing. Especially "What U Need".

Wait, Yamane-san did the music for "Bloodstained"!? That's awesome to hear that they're still around like Koshiro-san.

I love Sonic Rush's OST, I wish Hideki Naganuma got to compose for more Sonic games

And yep, she sure did! Still around and still making awesome music

some of my favs are tommy tallarico, yuzo koshiro, keiichi okabe (and all the others that contributed to the nier soundtrack)

I really like Hajime Hirasawa's work on Star Fox

kohta takahashi
yuzo koshiro
lorien testard
Olivier Derivière
Takanobu Yabuuchi

Prooobably:
  1. Nobuo Uematsu
  2. Yasunori Mitsuda
  3. Jeremy Soule
  4. Yoko Shimomura
  5. Tim Follin

Uematsu Nobuo (mainly because of Final Fantasy VI or Final Fantasy Legend 2)
Mitsuda Yasunori (Chrono series)
Sakuraba Motoi (I know he's as capable of the best as he is of the worst...but I can't can't forget Shining Force III and he has his moments in Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth).
Ippo/Numata Izuho (please don't laugh : I really loved her work for Phantasy Star III or IV).
Koshiro Yuzo (The Revenge of Shinobi and Streets of rage 1, for example)
Achiwa Daisuke (Mana Khemia, Atelier Ayesha)

Then I would also add my to favorite teams of composers.
SoundTeMP "Responsible for great music in Ragnarok online games"
Falcom sound team jdk "Responsible for all the music in most of Falcom games" Where artists like Yuzo Koshiro, Mieko Ishikawa, and Hideya Nagata, and Mieko Ishikawa to name a few name has been part of.

I've never been one to delve into who the composers of video game music were, but I can only tell you that if I ever go to Heaven, I hope to hear the music of the composers of the Super Mario Galaxy saga, lol

Other games with music that I absolutely loved were Persona 3 and 4, Cuphead, Final Fantasy VII and IX, Resident Evil 2 and Parappa The Rapper (obviously, xD)

I’m no particular order:
Masayoshi Soken, mainly for his amazing Shadowbringer OST and FXVI.

Nobuo Uematsu; To Zanarkand is all I need.

Yoko Shimomura. So many of my favorite games and their OSTs came from her. Noctis and dearly beloved will always be my favorite.

My favorites atm would be Akira Yamaoka and Toby Fox, I don't think it is a stretch to say both are unmatched on their respective genres.

- Tenpei Sato from several NIS games
- Yuka Tsujiyoko from several Fire Emblem games
- Hideki Naganuma even if he's cringe on Twitter (may have stopped being cringe)
- Hidenori Shoji from several Yakuza games
- Nobuo Uematsu
- Grant Kirkhope
- David Bergeaud from some Ratchet and Clank games
- Yuzo Koshiro from some Ys games
- Tetsuya Shibata (mostly for Monster Hunter)
- Shoji Meguro from some SMT games
- Hitoshi Sakimoto from the Ivalice FF games
- Kenji Ito from Romancing SaGa

Takahiro Unisuga and Ryo Takeshita were some of the absolute best in all of Falcom's long history of composers and I'm still bummed out especially with Unisuga departing a few years ago. Getting both of them doing the majority of Trails in the Sky the 3rd's OST is why it's probably one of my all time faves.

ZUN, creator of Touhou Project is also a mainstay for me. Though often my favourite work of his comes from tracks composed exclusively for standalone CDs he (very infrequently) releases. I will also mention U2 Akiyama who did a lot of original compositions on the official fighting game spinoffs and I feel captures the spirit of ZUN's style some of the best of anyone, even making some of the most popular themes in the series

I would also be willing to say Lee Jackson is a favourite composer, but I only really know his outstanding work on Rise of the Triad, but that's also a very strong portfolio on its own.
