Sonic Riders is still and will stay for a long time as my Top 3 Racing Games (maybe even Top 1). Different characters archetype (Speed, Fly/Flight, and Power) has different optimal route to gain advantage, and each Extreme Gears actually plays different. The race start can put you in massive advantage or absolute worst with little comeback mechanic.
Turbulence makes trail behind someone easier and allow you to regain fuel while trying to catch up. Grind Zone is what makes Speed-type character being my go-to character to pick, as grinding doesn't require movement input like Power- or Flight-type, but the timing to grind can be very tight.
The main cons are the fact this game can be extremely frustrating.
When it comes to simulation and vibing it's going to be Gran Turismo 4, and maybe even Gran Turismo 2 PAL version if you wanna know what's Fatboy Slim is doing in heaven. If I wanted modern experience, I'm going for Gran Turismo 5, no online-only clause, and dance while waiting the other competitor to load.
We all know Most Wanted is the more adrenaline-inducing and arguably the best in the franchise, or Underground for classy, stylish, and street mods culture entry to fits your inner child. But in my perspective, Pro Street has to be chaotic of the entire franchise that really makes me "once more" only to get totaled in the Nevada Desert.
You can play safe and hope your rival totaled then lifting coasting through the sprint, or you can go pedal to the metal and pray you ain't hitting weird bump sending you to the Electrosphere.
If you ain't totaled, you ain't playing it right.
This is honorable mention section, so I won't elaborate any further.
