I love soup.

I literally wait for the cold seasons just so I can have it without regret, and there are many kinds I really wish to try: Oxtail! Lobster! Stilton!, just to name a few.

But all I really need is a good, steaming bowl of chicken or vegetable goodness to make me a happy Waffle.

What about you?

There's no better way to warm up during the winter months than some tasty soup!

Currently I really love me some Udon Noodle Soup. I'm eating a bowl right now, in fact!
Throw some mushrooms, spring onions, ginger, chili flakes and either chicken, shrimp or tofu into your dashi base, top it off with some soy sauce, mirin/sake and lime juice and you're in culinary nirvana.

That said, a good Minestrone is up there as well!

oh wow i didnt notice their was a cooking channel here!

But i like a nice potato leak soup with either bacon or panchetta, but for stews i like a rather simple beef stew with plenty of parsnips, carrots, and potatos (i like to use french onion soup cans as the stock) and a good spicy chili, i make my chili using Poblanos. ive been experimenting with gumbo and im going to try to make an "Italian beef" gumbo soon, its gonna have sport peppers, giardnre or hoewever you spell it, onions, and green peppers with some beef.

I LOVE ALL THE SOUPS

I adore snert (Dutch pea soup)

Kinda makes me feel like I’m eating something that would be served in a fantasy tavern. At least how my Dad makes it, usually leaving a bone sticking out of it.

Super tasty and always makes me a bit nostalgic - warms the body and the soul.

That's just beautiful, man.

taco stew... ferment your peppers.
This is true! also try to make your own chili paste it makes a big difference (it's a lot to ask someone to actually sun dry their peppers tbh but makign the past only takes a blender)

One of these days i need to make a split pea and ham hock stew since thats a pretty killer dish.

Eu adoro snert (sopa de ervilha holandesa).

Me dá a sensação de estar comendo algo que seria servido em uma taverna de conto de fadas. Pelo menos do jeito que meu pai faz, geralmente deixando um osso para fora.

Super saboroso e sempre me deixa um pouco nostálgico - aquece o corpo e a alma.
UEI think I'll want to try that soup; it looks delicious.

Good idea to plan ahead with Snert - my Dad will start it later in the morning, let it simmer all day. Also Thicker the better! Personally I prefer my snert to be one or two step away from being a solid.

They're all so good but if i had to pick a favorite maybe i'd say oat soup since its simple and scrumptious especially in the winter
I think for me an ideal "simple" stew is probably a few cans of beans, the cajun trinity, and maybe some potato carrots and parsnips with a ham hock with some corn flour added at the end. Its relatively dirt cheap and easy to work with, you dont need to use the corn flour at the end you can even do something like make a roux, if you use the ham hock score it to help with the cooking process. its my go to struggle meal because it can very easily feed me for a week and it only costs about $20 depending on if you want to add a meat to it or not, ham hocks are just really cheap and add good flavor.
