This is a game I've played for years.
A Korean MMORPG Released in NA on 2004 and known mostly for:
  • Massive open world map, no instances or load screens, you can walk anywhere if you put the time (and they don't kill you first).
  • PVP/PK since level 1, no requirements, no level restrictions, anywhere outside towns.
  • Little to no questing needed to progress, mostly grind grind and grind
  • Tons of classes to choose 35 or more with specific roles in battle-.
  • No marketplace, want to make a deal? you have to talk to people and negotiate.
  • Monthly Olympiads in a Colosseum to be the best of your Class and get a shiny golden glow a crown and some unique skills.
Being released in 2004 the graphics aren't exactly the best by today's standards.
Some Russian fans took it upon themselves to port the client to Unreal Engine 4.
The result is jaw dropping.

I love Linage 2 played it for years. Seeing fans working a remaster is nice seeing as NCsoft rather make shitty mobile games that plays it self.

But the funny part is there was talk about NCsoft planing on a remaster them self I remember hearing about it back in 2017-19 I think but just like square enix plan of making a FFXI remaster for mobile phones well it´s all shit talk and 0 action.

Honestly FFXI and linage 2 with better grahpics and maybe even better controls would be damn epic. I mean in a sea of half-assed mmo games like Bless online, Throne and liberty and so on bringing back classic would do us all good.

I mean people keep saying the mmo industry is dying and we all keep getting run of the mill half baked mmo. Brining old classics in to the feature maybe is what we need today.

Holy shit. I was in the open beta when Lineage 2 came out

One of the best pvp system in mmorpg game, thousand of players fighting for world bosses, for farming spots or castles.

sounds interesting, just pre-registered ::cool

from the video in the OP, apparently they have an investor?? for this fan project? not sure how that works legally (if at all) but cool beans lol it seems to have sped the project along

Lineage 2, that's a name I haven't heard in decades

The game spiked in popularity in my country and Private Servers were running rampant (and getting deleted)
