A Portuguese fan translation of Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu (PS1) by the talented Gledson999 has been available for a while now. With that groundwork laid, an English patch might finally be within reach. Are there enough people interested to make it happen?

I don't know. There are other patches like Surging Aura and that HnK game for the PS1 available in French and Spanish respectively but there seems to be no interest to create an English version of either.

I wonder if it's the same one I tried before, months ago? They say it's translated to portuguese, but there's no translated subtitles in cutscenes at all, only menu stuff was translated. Here hoping to see it full translated someday, even if in english.

I've done some preliminary work on Manic Game Girl, haven't had much time to put into that recently, but it always makes it more enticing when a latin font is already implemented into a game...

@RageBurner - It's probably due to the popularity of the games in certain countries. this DBZ game must've been big among Portuguese speakers. I even found a video of a tournament for it on the Saturn.

@RegulusBlue - According to the page, the cutscenes are now subtitled, but I haven’t checked. I’d be fine with it either way. Official Saturn translations removed the cutscene speech entirely. The work done so far provides a solid foundation to build on.

It would be a good idea for the only good Dragon Ball Z game on the PS1 to also have an English or Spanish translation although it would be based on the Portuguese language obviously but in the future there will be English or Spanish translation in the PS1 version because the Saturn version did have a Spanish translation by the community.

You’re right about it being based on the Portuguese translation. Maybe it’s better to translate from Japanese. I’m hopeful since the methods are somewhat available, so doing the English version should just be a matter of repeating the process, I assume.

Wouldn't be incredibly hard to base it on the Portuguese release but translate the script from the original Japanese version.

"RegulusBlue" here (I lose access to my previous account), so, I believe it's the same translation because, as I recall, it was supposed to have subtitles, but there's none at all. Unless it's due some incompatibility with some emulators. Someone else will have to confirm this.

Is there a common place where people usually share source code for reverse engineered PS1 games? Or would it be better to check if the translator has a github page or something?
