I've been streaming Gran Turismo 2 Plus recently and for some reason after a while I get really bad hickups and frame drops. OBS sais it's fine and my CPU reaches 30% max. I tried lowering the Resolution to 1x and Duckstation immediatelly crashes. I am sort of stuck at 2x (that's the only thing that works as of now). No Patches, Mods etc. I tried other Games (even own disc dumps) and they seem to work fine. Just wondering if people have the same issues or is it just me.

I think Automatic will prefer Vulkan if it's an option, but it might just be a quirk of the graphics drivers on your device. (Or possibly they need to be updated, but hey, if it's working that's great!).
Maybe check your CPU / GPU temperatures. Specially if you're on a laptop. Game may play fine for 20 mins but when the heat rise and fans cant keep up, go in thermal throttling.
That was my first Check too, temps are fine, very warm but not too hot to handle.

Huh, if all your other games except this one allow you to change the resolution then it is probably an issue your duckstation build has with this particular game. If it crashes before even running if you change the resolution, that makes me think it is not a heat issue. I imagine gt2 is pretty demanding as far as psx games goes, do you have a game that plays similar that runs fine as an example?

That said, it could still be thermal related, even if OBS says 30%, it could still be getting too hot. Are you sure it is only duckstation that is chugging when it happens? All your other programs respond just fine?

I'll check the temps again and try getting one of those cooling things for Laptops! I'll report Back some time!

I don't use cooling accessories for my laptop, just try to have the vents unobstructed, but I opened it last year for cleaning and re-pasting the chips. But yeah, having your CPU capped at 30% made me directly think of thermal throttling.

The vents are completelly free

Everthing runs perfectly well except duckstation. No Problems in obs or even Browser running in the BG. I have not tried yet similar demanding Games but I should try it later today. Weirdly enough: even duckstation on it's own chugs.

I'm not an expert, but I imagine OBS (since you are capturing and streaming) is as much or more resource intensive than duckstation, so if even duckstation front end (if that is what you mean "on its own") runs slow in your opinion then it sounds like a build problem. Maybe try a different version/build?

Yeah, I'd imagine the combination of OBS for streaming and Duckstation might be a problem, especially on a laptop. I know Duck has a video-recording thing built into it, if you just want to record footage and not stream. I recorded most of a challenge run in Symphony of the Night with it (and forgot to record the superboss fight x_x).

Any chance we can get your system specs?

I couldn't recreate the issue on my end with Duckstation, maybe check the graphics settings. Usually Automatic works just fine, but perhaps setting Vulkan/Direct X/etc manually would help.
This man right Here. I testes the different settings. Dunno what automated set up but direct x works Like a Charm. +10

I take it you are on windows then? That makes sense direct x would work best with your hardware, you really should be using that and only use other APIs if that doesn't work.

That is weird it wouldn't default to direct x for a windows build... Then again, I don't really know that well. I guess vulkan is also the go to for windows?

I use Windows (10) on a MacBook (Air 2015) via Bootcamp. I do have a full fledged gaming PC that is currently not accessable to me. I guess the Bootcamp drivers and Windows drivers may had a small issue. Forcing it to DX works great.

I guess that could be what messed with autosetup, I really only know linux. Regardless, you should mark @ATenderLad reply as the solution with the checkmark to the right of the post, because it sounds like that was the issue. Great it is now working ^_^

Done and done. Thank you very much.

Nice, The Wicked Lady strikes again. Wrapping this up, cheers 👍
