Are there any other fans of this wonderful show here?
For the uninitiated: Dr. Katz is a show that ran on Comedy Central from 1995-2002. It's the great predecessor to Home Movies, the excellent Lucy, Daughter of the Devil, and sort of to Bob's Burgers.
The titular Dr. Katz is a therapist for stand-up comedians. All the great alt-comics of the era appear: Emo Phillips, Dave Attell, Ray Romano, etc. They do their act in a normal speaking tone, and Katz chimes in with quips and advice.
That, in itself, is often gold, but often exceeding it are the in-between segments where Katz talks with his son Ben, Friends, and his only employee Laura. It's all improvised.
It's just so good, man. Comfy vibes. Nothing happens in any of the episodes. No one has any goals, no relationships evolve, just friends making each other laugh over lounge jazz.
Anime fans who complain about 'filler' episodes could never. This show is all filler, and I love it so!
