It’s the grungiest grunge game to ever grunge and that was PERFECT. I heard it once described as the “adult Doom” and I would believe it. My big thing is how it doubles in, at least early on, with gothic elements. And then later on doubles back in on very space marine adjacent imagery. It’s also a game where, no matter how old it gets, they did such a good job with how every aspect of the shooting feels that it will always rock. You can be playing the damn SEGA SATURN VERSION and you’ll still feel the sheer power of its shooting gameplay. And the decision to go deathmatch later on was a brilliant move, because great PC games never have empty lobbies. People will FOREVER keep playing. Why? Because it’s freaking FUN, man. Play Doom.
