Help Does somebody knows how to install True Crime New York City Widescreen Fix in PCSX2

Hey! If you're trying to install the True Crime: New York City Widescreen Fix in PCSX2, here’s what worked for me. First, make sure you’ve got the SLUS-21106 version of the game (CRC: 42A9C4EC). Then download the fix from ThirteenAG’s Widescreen Fixes Pack on GitHub. Once you’ve got it, extract the plugin files into the same folder where your PCSX2 .exe is located. In the emulator settings, switch VU1 to SuperVU and use Software rendering mode, Hardware mode causes some weird graphical bugs. Also, don’t enable PCSX2’s built-in widescreen hack; the plugin handles that better. After that, just launch the game and it should run in proper widescreen. Let me know if you want help with visuals or tweaking settings

Okay so when I extract TrueCrimeNewYorkCity.PCSX2F.WidescreenFix.elf

Okay so when I extract TrueCrimeNewYorkCity.PCSX2F.WidescreenFix.elf
After extracting TrueCrimeNewYorkCity.PCSX2F.WidescreenFix.elf, you’ll want to place that file in the same folder as your PCSX2 executable (the .exe file). That’s usually your main PCSX2 install directory. Then, in PCSX2, make sure you’re using Software rendering mode and set VU1 to SuperVU, those settings help avoid visual glitches with this game. Also, don’t enable PCSX2’s built-in widescreen hack; the .elf file handles widescreen properly on its own. Once that’s set, launch the game and you should see the widescreen fix in action.

Put the TrueCrimeNewYorkCity.PCSX2F.WidescreenFix.elf file in the same folder where your PCSX2 executable is, basically, wherever pcsx2.exe lives. That’s usually your main install directory for PCSX2. If you’re not sure, right-click your PCSX2 shortcut, hit “Open file location,” and it’ll take you straight there.

Place the TrueCrimeNewYorkCity.PCSX2F.WidescreenFix.elf file in the same directory where your PCSX2 executable lives. On Linux, that’s usually wherever you installed or built PCSX2, could be something like ~/pcsx2, /usr/games/pcsx2, or wherever your AppImage or Flatpak unpacks to. If you're using an AppImage, you might need to extract it first to access the internal structure.

Once the .elf file is in the right spot, launch PCSX2 and make sure:

  • VU1 is set to SuperVU (under Emulation Settings → VUs tab)
  • Renderer is set to Software mode (under Video → Plugin Settings)
Also I recommend not enabling PCSX2’s built-in widescreen hack, the .elf handles that better.

Here’s how to use the TrueCrimeNewYorkCity.PCSX2F.WidescreenFix.elf file on Linux:

  1. Find your PCSX2 folder You need to put the .elf file in the same folder where your PCSX2 program is. If you installed PCSX2 manually, it might be in something like ~/pcsx2/. If you’re using Flatpak or AppImage, it’s a bit trickier, let me know which one you’re using and I’ll help.
  2. Move the file Just copy or drag the TrueCrimeNewYorkCity.PCSX2F.WidescreenFix.elf file into that folder. It should sit next to the file that launches PCSX2 (usually called pcsx2 or pcsx2-qt).
  3. Set up PCSX2 correctly Open PCSX2 and go to:
    • Emulation Settings → VUs tab → Set VU1 to SuperVU
    • Graphics Settings → Renderer → Choose Software modeThese settings help the widescreen fix work properly.
  4. Don’t use PCSX2’s widescreen hack Leave that option off, the .elf file does the widescreen fix better.
  5. Launch the game Start True Crime: New York City and the widescreen fix should kick in automatically.

To change VU1 to SuperVU in PCSX2, do this:

  1. Open PCSX2.
  2. Go to Config → Emulation Settings.
  3. Click the VUs tab (it’s one of the tabs at the top).
  4. Look for VU1 Recompiler and change it from microVU to SuperVU.
  5. Click OK to save the settings.
and yes for the first screenshot, you are doing so far so good.

Are you there?

So it seems found out this SuperVU no longer supported. this is where I found out in Google.

While "SuperVU" was a setting in older versions of PCSX2, it is no longer available in the current emulator builds, including v2.4.0. The feature has been deprecated because the default microVU recompiler is now more accurate and efficient. There is no way to enable SuperVU in modern versions of the emulator.

Okay, I think I figured out how to do this. Hopefully this works.
