I signed up for roller derby as soon as I turned 18, but didn’t practice long before my car got totaled (I’m ok, someone hit me while I was stopped and the value of the car was too low for insurance to want to pay for anything 😫) & I couldn’t make it out to practice (I lived in rural south USA). In my 20s, I danced professionally for about 6 years (I could and probably should have developed my craft more than I did—I was never as flexible as I wanted to be). In 2020, I had to leave and took my first ever sedentary job. This past year or so I’ve gotten back to the gym and got a new pair of skates and started going to the roller rink. I’ve been getting a lot better and trying to learn jam skating. When you’re a busy adult with a full-time desk job, it takes some real effort to stay active and fit—you have to make that time to train and move your body or it won’t happen at all.
