Do you have any parents or older family into video games?

I got my love for mystery games and my predilection for PlayStation and Nintendo consoles from my mother. She doesn't really get along with modern games, so as her old games got damaged she stopped playing altogether. My uncle on my mother's side is still a big gamer.

Mentioning my brother feels a little like cheating because he's only like 6 years older than me but he introduced me (and still is!) to a lot of games I eventually became a fan of

Nothing too direct, I guess I was in awe seeing my cousins(nes) collections, during those long Global family meetings during Christmas back in the late eighties early nineties.

My dad plays games regularly, my mother doesn't. I got my mother into some gaming though, almost entirely thanks to local multiplayer.

Hell. This repo had games that I got from here that I sort of got my mom into, I got her to play some beatmania, alongsides some DDR, Gran Turismo, hell, i even got her to try Ridge racer, but she does prefer stuff like Mario Kart or Mario Party.

My grandpa hehe he was a huge pc gamer since the 80s or so til then end. Every time i was at his house he’d be at his computer desk, smoking a ciggy and playing either age of empires, warcraft III, or diablo II. he even had another computer next to his so he could play games with the grandkids ? miss you grandpa

In my case, some of the things I have learned about video games is due to the intervention of an older cousin (may he rest in peace) who from my perspective as a little girl "was the best gamer of all time"

Everything else,I have been investigating and experimenting myself.

My Grandma and Grandpa used to play NES and Wii together. They would play Mario, Bowling, and Tetris on NES, Wii Sports on Wii. My grandmother beat Zelda 1 and 2. My grandmother stopped playing games when my grandfather died.
My cousins and I bought my grandma a Switch for Christmas one year with a NSO subscription to play the NES library, but she never played it because it reminded her too much of him, so we ended up regifting it to someone else.

My mom used to play a lot of different video games but now that she's older she likes relaxing games like Animal Crossing or Pokemon. My dad used to play a lot of video games but he passed away a long time ago. I think he would still be gaming if he was still around though.

I always laugh, when I remember my dad told me once he was a HUUGE DOOM 2 fan. He told me he could barely sleep most days, and my mom never understood the reason for it, lmao

Thankfully, it didn't end up evolving into an addiction, or something like that. But I always love to hear that story. ::lol

Also, I'm so sorry for your loss! Hope you're doing well.

Your dad has good taste.

Honestly don't know if my dad ever played his PS1 with Tomb Raider, GTA 3 and RE 1-3 or if gave me the habit of collecting games but never having time to really play them. I do know he did play CoD a bit on the PS3, mom on the other hand would play anything she got if she had the time. SNES Paperboy 2 was her jam, Primal on PS2 and for the PC the classic Sims, just to list her favorites. Thanks Mom I'm a gamer because of you.

I got my mom to watch me play all of the original devil may cry; she loved the spanish-italian castle setting

My Father introduces me into Video Games with the Commodore 64.
Even as a very young Kid, i felt like most Games were bad and or unfair :P
Even replaying them as an Adult, Ninja Turtles is just very flawed.
A few i like are Tower of Terror, Le Mans 24, Star Raider II und Donal Ducks Playground.

Later on they bought me a Super Nintendo and a Gameboy, Games as Mario World, Kart and Turtles in Time cemented my Love for Video Games.
Without them, i guess i wouldn't be here.

Edit: I remember that he played Mortal Kombat for me, as it was too hard for me.
He got to Goro at least^^

He also was more into round based tactical Games, as Colonization.

My dad was big on games, specifically Sega tho he did get a PS2 and an Xbox as well. My uncle is also super into games though he has been a Sony diehard since the PS1 and refused to ever play any other system unless he was at my house and I begged him to play Halo or something.

Most of my fondest memories of gaming with others involved playing RPGs or games like Twisted Metal with them growing up.

Though they have since passed on, my mother and both of her parents really liked video games. My grandma in particular looooved the NES and I owe most of my fondest early gaming memories to being at her house.

My mom and I played a lot of Gamecube together, too.

Meanwhile, my dad doesn't know what Tetris is. lol

Both my parents are notably into gaming and taught me reading and math before I got into school with a combination of video games, D&D, and Yu-Gi-Oh .
