Father Octopus was actually who got me into gaming at a young age, he used to play a lot of stuff. Baldur's Gate, Diablo 1 and 2, Street Fighter, OG Resident Evils; he played through all the original SNES Breath of Fire games while I was still a very young lad. Me, him and my brother would play rotating games every night together, usually fighting games. It started with Killer Instinct Gold, but then we went onto everything from the first two Smash Bros to Mario Party, Destroy All Monsters Melee and Kirby's Dream Course. Later on he got really into WoW for like 6 years, more than I ever was, and started doing raids and everything. He played Diablo 3 for a very long time too, which I constantly gave him grief over. He doesn't really play much of anything anymore outside of occasionally playing Black Ops 2 zombies on the PS3.
My mom casually played the usual mom stuff like Dr. Mario and Tetris, nothing serious. She probably got the most into the first Brain Age on the DS when it came out, but she'd literally just play the Sudoku in it.
