Planning to watch that, as i like the genre, but i dunno, seems too much Brad Pitt centered :p

Wondering if i have missed something good in that branch

randomly liked :
Interstellar
Sunshine (a lot)
Solaris (USA remake)
Moon
Blade Runner of course
District 9
Gattaca
Looper
Contact

something not included in this Rotten Tomatoes list?

Sorry, Interstellar disappointed me with this type of film.

I have no idea about Ad Astria, but just wanted to give Strange Days a shoutout. It's been one of my favorite sci-fi/cyberpunk films ever since randomly buying it for $3 on VHS as a kid, but people rarely seem to mention it

be free to point of your likes/dislikes if you like the genre, ie personally i didn't like Gravity.

Probably i'm streching too much the rope searching for something there isn't, i really would like more of these, with a realistic future setting, not easy

Honestly there are very few si-fi Movies I consider good. I think I can count the good sci-fi movies on both my hands.

HOnestly when it comes to sci-fi I would say TV series and Anime is where I wanna go if I wan´t good sci-fi. Because most most movies are either horror or some boring as drama or some crappy love story.

Honestly Sci-fi movies are so damn boring.

Thanks for mentioning, I still have to sit through this one.

Regarding Ad Astra, it is not Sci-fi, it is a drama. The Sci-fi ambience is just the backdrop of a estranged son/father relationship.

^^ noticed the typo in the title only now

I was entertained by it, so I think its fine. Good, but not great. But really, Sci-Fi films and TV shows cut side a wide swath as far as requirements. Do we go by it's adherence to science fact with as little fiction as possible? Do we go by the tried and true tropes of the genre (such as aliens and space travel)? Personally, I refuse to go down the Reddit rabbit hole, and like everything else in life, find a nice happy medium for my visual entertainment.

As for recommendations, this is extremely subjective, a bit like asking for an RPG recommendation without offering any specifics. With that, I simply cannot do so without writing about Forbidden Planet. I know a lot of people don't like older films, but personally it's a top three Sci-Fi (and top five film).

absolutely agree
yes i'm thinking at 2007 Sunshine atm, i know the ton of critics that movie have, well personally i like it a lot the same; watched so many times

watched the movie today, i agree with your comment;
a good movie, but slow and on psychological side.
To me there are a good bunch of technical errors too (something impossible on real)

typical movie i watch only one time, will not enter in my personal fave list
