Movies Do the Back To The Future films still hold up?

The trilogy is timeless .

Except the cartoon series . That was waste of time and just bad promotion for the movies overall . (But the Bill and Ted cartoon still rocks btw . Just a honorable mention the slided in my brain .)

Now that Cap’n @Zerpina mentioned it now it’s kinda more like a generational thing/issue. What seemed to be timeless and groundbreaking back then like that talking black car……wait why are you guys looking at me like that, some local TV stations here still aired reruns during the early 90s. Back to what I was saying it really falls down to someone on how they appreciate those things be it in what era it may be people will tend to see differently.
Don't worry, friendo. I was watching reruns of Get Smart & 1960's Batman at like 5am back in the 2010s hehe

I still like them. I think that they are pretty entertaining time travel movies. Michael J Fox was huge back then. So maybe it's hard for today's kids to understand the gravity of the star power that was in the films. Eric Stoltz just wouldn't have worked the same way. The filmmakers made the right choice.

The first time I saw it was when it came out on VHS. Back then VCRs were very expensive. My uncle worked at Radio Shack and rented a VCR for us so we could watch the movie. I was a huge fan of Family Ties so I was really excited to see it. Since my siblings were younger we really only went to kiddie movies at the time. I guess that's why my mom didn't take us to see Back To The Future.

However, I think I've seen all three films enough times to last me a lifetime. That doesn't mean I won't watch them again someday. But I've had enough for now for sure.

One of the issues with the second film today is that 2015 seemed like a million years into the future back in 1989. Smart homes were done before in movies. But BTTF2 made it look really cool when it was often used as a horror trope years prior. And of course we don't have hoverboards or flying cars or self drying/auto fitting clothes. AI waiters looked cool in the movie. But in reality it's just taking people's jobs and the reality of AI doing that is definitely not cool.

I ranted a lot. But I think that the trilogy is a great piece of cinema history. But it's not gonna hit the same way for a lot of younger people. Terminator 2 might be one of the few films that anyone can still be blown away by.

you need the proper setup with big TV or projector, multi speaker surround system and a 4k blueray disc to make the kids feel like at cinema
