Agreed. The weirdest thing to me is that it probably has the best written story a singleplayer FF game has had in quite some time. Feels like misplaced effort in a way.

Yoru no Nai Kuni/Nights of Azure is pretty fun, and DMC like... PS3/4 versions...
Only caveat is Japanese only <not a problem really> If you don't mind Translating with your phone or such, but still fun game

You do know Final Fantasy VII Remake & XVI aren't the first Final Fantasys to have action rpg elements right? Also who cares, sometimes a franchise need to do something different from not getting stale.

i agree and they had crisis core & dirge of Cerberus and all those which were fun offshoots
but they need to stick to the classic JRPG turn based formula with their main games
thats just my opinion anyway :)

I rather have something like Legend of Dragoon or Mario & Luigi otherwise they need to evolve the turn based formula into something feels fresh and interactive.

there's an English patch for PS3 version iirc.
