Hey! I come to this forum to declare something…
(drumrolls)
So, with an idea that came from a rat friend of mine, I wanted to share some of my drawings and talk about art and stuff. If you want to use this post to share your own drawings too, feel free, I’m totally cool with that :D
Well, I started producing/writing a comic back in 2023 about a chubby teenage boy who wanted to beat up everyone (me).
Then the story slowly turned into something deeper, you know? Especially because at the time I was fighting against myself (teenage stuff, right? :P). Nowadays I kind of feel like a clown, because I never really had any real problems — it was all stuff in my head, you know? “Young people problems.”
So yeah, then I started drawing more just to test my art skills with a manga ink pen (nankin). I still use it today, actually, just not as often as I wish.
That story kept being rewritten over and over, and technically it’s the same story, but with different characters and a different lore (it doesn’t make sense, but let’s ignore that because I’m amazing).
I’ve talked a lot and said nothing so far, but anyway: I kept drawing, stopping, drawing again, stopping again… and if you really think about it, I’ve made more than a million comics. And whether I like it or not, I think I improved my writing (at least I hope so). Or better yet, I discovered my tastes as an artist.
I really like drawing cartoon-style stuff, because my goal is a “cute,” “cartoony,” “funny” design — but with violent themes and approaches, you know? Like, you see a super cute little dog drawn all adorable, and on the same page there’s a guy losing his arm in """extreme""" graphic violence or something like that XD
And well… I’ve been on this site for a few days now and I noticed you guys are, like, cool, you know? :/
Not like Twitter people and stuff (I don’t want to get anywhere near that place). You actually know how to talk, you have real opinions :V
So I felt comfortable sharing this and showing the comic I made a few months ago (it’s only 3 pages, but that’s fine), and along with it I’ll also post some sketches and give a short synopsis.
ou don’t need to worry about reading it, just look at the art :P
(detail: it was my first time drawing a car)
So yeah, I made this comic as a challenge to myself, you know? A comic to learn how to make comics in general XD
My goal was to finish the one-shot and then probably publish it somewhere — maybe even here… if I REALLY finish it :D
At the time, the story was about a mother and her son traveling by car in search of the father. A classic adventure.
The art style looks a lot like Dragon Ball, because back then I was MARATHONING classic Dragon Ball XD
My mistake, by the way. Nowadays I still draw in a similar way, and if you think I should change something, feel free to let me know :)
I had already planned three arcs, with the first one being an introduction to the universe and the main villain, along with some of his friends — AND A DRAGON.
Okay, drawing a dragon was actually really fun :D
I drew it during a computer course, and I liked the experience. I’ve always been the type who only draws characters, so backgrounds and objects are definitely things I still need to improve.
Well, now I’ll send some sketches — both from this same project and from another one with a different script and lore, etc.
It was more like training, you know? :V
Not gonna lie, this is my biggest project so far.
It took me two years just to decide on the name :P
Is “BARK BOUND” a good name?
You decide XD
Of course, I have more than three years’ worth of sketches, just not with me right now. When I get home, I might post some of them here too… maybe :P
Well… I think I don’t have much else to say.
Big thanks to everyone who read this, to everyone who didn’t, and to the comments from the people here — you guys are a solid 10/10 :D
