It's been a few good years since I first heard of disco elysium, it sounds like a game I'd love, so I really wanted to play, but oh well, I don't have a pc. I also heard a lot about how the game switched hands and is now owned by a really shaddy and fucked up company (I even heard that people should pirate it because no money go to the original devs) wasn't it owned by zinga? I don't remember now.

But, anyways, should I play the mobile version? Do you guys think it's a good idea? I really care about what the original creators of any media I consume think about, I try to do my best to experience everything the way it was intended to, but I really want to play disco elysium.

I like this forum, you guys rock, so why not ask here?

From what I've seen, they apparently removed the RPG mechanics straight to a more visual novel-like experience, and the first two chapters are free.

I'm going to really rain on your parade rn, but the best way to experience this game? Pirate it.
Normally, I wouldn't say something like that about an indie game, but let me explain: the people who created the game left the studio, and the original creator got the IP stolen and now it belongs to a nepo-baby who doesn't care about the game.
Robert Kurvitz, the original creator, wants the game to be accessible by as many people as possible, and as he isn't going to profit from it anymore, it is one of the few cases in which I'd say if you want to get it through the seven seas, it might be a matter of how comfortable you are with it.

I didn't even know there was a mobile version. But, looking it up, I see this quote:

“We intend to captivate the TikTok user with quick hits of compelling story, art, and audio, ultimately creating an all new, deeply engaging form of entertainment,” Havel said.

That sure sounds like something other than what Disco Elysium is? It is excellent but I can't imagine it as a 'quick hits' thing. It's paced isn't built that way, and it's better for it.

I guess if you really want to play it out of morbid curiosity; who can stop you? Like to be clear if you were to pirate that version you'd be uhm absolutely justified in doing so but then again; why not play the og? :3 if you are looking for a semi-mobile experience well; I actually have been playing Disco Elysium via steam-link so I literally stream the game to my phone. It's a cozy experience when I want to situate myself in another part of the house yet still want to get some progress in <3 idk ^^; just my two cents

Just by that response, I felt something horrible inside me.

I'm not touching that thing even with a 10 ft pole

I can see where you're coming from, but I'm too broke for a PC right now. Lol

Guess I just have to wait
