Weighing in on the question, Digimon any day of the week. Mainline Pokemon has really failed to keep up with the times becasue of its insistance on using small teams with insufficient development timetables. Time Stranger has all the love and care and life that Pokemon, as the largest property in the world should be flaunting at every step. Pokemon isn't bad, but in this race it's not number one.

i never really was interested in digimon as a kid, but i had a HUGE pokémon phase for about 5 years and i begged my parents for anything pokémon related and i watched like all the movies that had been released up to that point.

As anime series: Digimon all the way.
As videogame franchise: sorry, but Pokémon takes place. There are good Digimon games, absolutely, but many suffered from the Tamagotchi mechanic (which, I mean, fair enough there is since the series originated as such) and weren't exactly what Pokémon games always are: easy for any newcomer to RPGs, being extremely simplified and way more UI friendly imo.

I wouldn't say suffered, but digimon does definitely have a band identity problem; its last 3 games were an rpg, a visual novel and a monster raising sim. (although pokemon isn't exactly muchh better withh it's recent released being an action rpg, a tooth brushing game and a sleeep monitor)

I have a couple of Digimon X's (also my favorites), one of the pendulum ones, and I've been eyeing up one of the pendulum colour versions that are releasing soon. Also some Tamagotchi's, gen 1+2, connection, and Pix.
