Did you use to take a digital camera everywhere?

This was not something I was interested in, but I remember how universal these things used to be in the early-to-mid aughts, not in the least because of the advent of sites like Fotolog, MindViz and other teen-based social media sites. It's almost funny how phones rendered these obsolete in just a couple of years.

Were you one to carry a digital camera around?

We couldn't afford one. We had one digital camera that my parents got in 1998. My mom wanted to get into the Dot Com boom and wasn't able to break through. The camera was around $500 at the time, from Olympus, and photos were uploaded via the COM port and used a CF card. We didn't really take it out anywhere. It kind of just stayed in the house for the most part.

I bought my own camcorder when I was 17 with my first job money, but didn't have that for very long.

It has quite the memory too, unfortunately I haven't found it since then

Honestly no, even for me they were too expensive cameras, so I have continued to this day to engage in analog photography mainly with my old Nikon FM. Nowadays it is the other way around: analog photography has become a luxury for a few, given the relative scarcity of film, but especially the cost of this type of media. The development itself fortunately still remains affordable; many photography studios offer this solution online as well.

Waaaay back in the day, when the big genre on YouTube was sketch comedy, me and my friends all had one of these things, and filmed little shows and skits that we then published online. I never became an influencer, though.

I bought a fujifilm digital camera around 2006. Before that, I was using disposable cameras. I didn't carry it everywhere but I did bring it with me on trips. I replaced it with a Nikon DSLR camera about 12 years ago, which I still use today.

The amateur sketch comedy era on youtube was my favorite. Everyone was just filming something something funny with their friends. They never expected to become internet famous and make money.

I still do, I have a Nikon Coolpix incase I want to take pictures. Can't do it with my phone since I run a stripped down android (no software for anything bu calls).

Before they were integrated into any mobile phone, no one I knew carried one around, moreover, the digital cameras were very expensive and supermarkets still sold Kodak's disposable products.

Made use of disposable film cameras often enough. I remember a trip to Europe where I was having the hardest time trying to get them to focus properly, that's when I discovered that I needed glasses......

I still do, cause phone camera's suck (phone everything sucks, they do everything, but nothing well). Little sony camera is super ergonomic don't need to be a contortionists to use it effectively, in fact it's enjoyable, like one of em figdet toys. No delays, no interruptions, no touchscreen to accidentally brush over and do something you didn't mean to, just point and shoot, don't even need to think about it. And if you do want to think about it and get a little feisty there's 30x optical zoom, a popup viewfinder, and all the advanced options you might want to land some of those tricky shots. Thank god they survived and are still on the market, and don't you dare to imply that they won't!

No. Didn't have one back in the day. But I got one recently. Mostly because I intentionally don't have/use a smartphone (Specs here: https://www.dpreview.com/products/panasonic/compacts/panasonic_dmclx1/specifications):


I mostly got it because it takes an exact 3840x2160 (4K) in RAW format. The other reason being that I wanted to get a separate individual device to use other than my cellphone (which can't take pictures anyway)!

I did ! I used to have a pretty tiny canon camera and lug it around and take photos of friends.
I don't find myself to be the most photogenic person or a selfie guy or someone who needs to take photos...but when I'm at an event and I know people will look back and be glad we take a photo I semi-push everyone to take one. I won't be snapping hundreds of photos and annoying everyone with this though, just a shot or two to cement the night.

I wish I could remember what model, but my brother and I did ask for cameras as kids because we really wanted to make movies. We got one of those cameras you're able to take underwater, which we loved. I kinda wish we never got rid of them so I could dig them up and see what we took on it because I barely remember.

That’s awesome I’m a dark room tech so I’m always in there for my school and printing and developing film is such a fun thing even though I don’t get payed just so much fun
